Job summary

Assurant is seeking a Lead Accountant to join the Consolidations team in a virtual capacity. The role focuses on reconciling intercompany activity, equity movements, and royalty payments across entities, with duties spanning journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly/quarterly close processes.

The ideal candidate has a BA/BS in accounting or finance, at least 5 years in corporate or consolidation accounting, and strong US GAAP knowledge.

• Experience with Oracle ERP a plus; advanced Excel/PowerBI a plus.

Location Virtual

The Lead Accountant role will play a vital role within the Consolidations team. Duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to, preparation and reconciliation of capital movements between entities, assisting with accounting for equity changes and equity pickups and eliminations, tracking intercompany loans, and reconciling intercompany transactions for select entities. The role will also assist with preparation of various journal entries, account reconciliations and analytical duties related to these responsibilities on a monthly and quarterly basis, as well as assist in process improvement efforts and automation of tasks where applicable.

Core Responsibilities

• Assist in recording and reconciling royalty payments between domestic and international entities.
• Prepare ad-hoc reports for internal management or assist with projects as business needs change.
• Assist in SEC reporting schedule preparation and review of 10Q/10K as needed.
• Equity:
  • Record and reconcile cash and non-cash capital movements between parent and subsidiary legal entities.
  • Assist with accounting for entity acquisitions, dissolutions, mergers, and transfers.
  • Review monthly consolidated equity pickup and eliminations for accuracy.
  • Record equity related clean-up entries as needed and prepare related account reconciliations.
  • Assist in reconciling and troubleshooting the year-end close out process.
• Intercompany:
  • Track and reconcile intercompany loans.
  • Prepare intercompany reconciliation for select entities, including domestic holding companies.
  • Review international intercompany recharge entries as needed.

Education

• BA or BS in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of 5 years accounting experience, experience in Corporate or Consolidations environment a plus
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Experience with Oracle ERP a plus
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerBI a plus
