Job summary

Assurant is seeking a Lead Accountant to join our Consolidations team in a virtual capacity. You will manage equity movements, intercompany reconciliations, and related journal entries, with a focus on accuracy and timely reporting.

The role requires 5+ years in accounting, strong US GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with Oracle ERP and Excel/PowerBI for monthly and quarterly close cycles.

Qualifications

• BA or BS in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 5 years accounting experience, preferably in a consolidation environment.
• Knowledge of US GAAP is required or preferred.
• Experience with Oracle ERP and advanced Excel/PowerBI is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Record and reconcile cash and non-cash capital movements between parent and subsidiary entities.
• Track and reconcile intercompany loans and prepare intercompany reconciliation for select entities.
• Assist with accounting for equity changes and equity eliminations; support year-end close and SEC reporting readiness.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and analytical tasks; contribute to process improvements and automation.

Lead Accountant

Location Virtual

The Lead Accountant role will play a vital role within the Consolidations team. Duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to, preparation and reconciliation of capital movements between entities, assisting with accounting for equity changes and equity pickups and eliminations, tracking intercompany loans, and reconciling intercompany transactions for select entities. The role will also assist with preparation of various journal entries, account reconciliations and analytical duties related to these responsibilities on a monthly and quarterly basis, as well as assist in process improvement efforts and automation of tasks where applicable.

Core Responsibilities

Equity

• Record and reconcile cash and non-cash capital movements between parent and subsidiary legal entities.
• Assist with accounting for entity acquisitions, dissolutions, mergers, and transfers.
• Review monthly consolidated equity pickup and eliminations for accuracy.
• Record equity related clean-up entries as needed and prepare related account reconciliations.
• Assist in reconciling and troubleshooting the year-end close out process.

Intercompany

• Track and reconcile intercompany loans.
• Prepare intercompany reconciliation for select entities, including domestic holding companies.
• Review international intercompany recharge entries as needed.
• Assist in recording and reconciling royalty payments between domestic and international entities.
• Prepare ad-hoc reports for internal management or assist with projects as business needs change.
• Assist in SEC reporting schedule preparation and review of 10Q/10K as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• BA or BS in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of 5 years accounting experience, experience in Corporate or Consolidations environment a plus
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Experience with Oracle ERP a plus
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerBI a plus
