Senior Full Stack .NET/Angular Modernization Engineer (.NET Framework 4.8 to .Net Core 8, AngularJS/.Net MVC to Angular 20)

Ascendum is seeking a Senior Full Stack .NET Developer to support a modernization effort for a healthcare-focused client. This role centers on maintaining and evolving a hybrid technology stack that includes legacy .NET Framework applications alongside newer .NET 8 services and updating .Net MVC and Angular JS modules to modern Angular.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You should be comfortable with taking initiative despite sometimes limited direction, and be prepared to get familiar with the system quickly, and make suggestions for improvement where you find the opportunity.

You will join an Ascendum team already supporting this effort and will be expected to ramp up quickly and contribute with teammates both on the client and Ascendum sides.

Responsibilities (Not All Inclusive)

• Design, develop, and maintain C# applications across .NET Framework 4.8 and .NET Core 8
• Support and modernize ASP.NET MVC (Razor) and ASP.NET Web API applications, including migrating patterns and practices to .NET 8 where needed.
• Develop and maintain Entity Framework 6 and Entity Framework Core code, including migrations, performance tuning, and query diagnostics.
• Write and optimize SQL Server queries, indexes, and stored procedures, and troubleshoot performance issues using execution plans and profiling tools.
• Maintain and modernize AngularJS applications and contribute to migrations to modern Angular (v20), with a strong focus on TypeScript and integration with .NET APIs.
• Deploy and support applications hosted in IIS, including an understanding of load balancing and authentication implications.
• Familiarity in building, maintaining, and troubleshoot background processing solutions using Windows Services, Windows Scheduled Tasks.
• Execute effectively in situations where requirements are incomplete or evolving by identifying work, validating assumptions, and proposing solutions.
• Get up to speed on existing codebases to understand behavior and logic, identify technical debt, and recommend reasonable improvements.
• Work productively with teammates, QA, and client stakeholders to determine priority and execution of tasks.
• Participate in agile ceremonies while remaining productive even when backlog refinement is minimal.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8 or more years of experience using C# and the Microsoft stack, including recent, hands‑on experience working with both .NET Framework 4.8 and modern .NET Core.
• Strong experience with ASP.NET MVC (Razor) and ASP.NET Web API.
• Demonstrated experience working with Entity Framework 6 and Entity Framework Core, including migrations and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience with SQL Server, including indexing strategies and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience maintaining or migrating AngularJS applications to modern Angular.
• Strong understanding of IIS-hosted applications and Windows-based deployment and execution models.
• Experience implementing and supporting background jobs using Windows Services, Scheduled Tasks.
• Proven ability to work independently in loosely defined environments and take initiative without needing detailed task breakdowns.
• Comfortability reading and understanding large, unfamiliar codebases.
• Experience working in agile teams using Git-based version control.

Nice to Have Qualifications

• Experience with revenue cycle management, especially in the context of healthcare
• Experience with utilizing agentic AI tools for coding assistance
• Experience working and deploying within Azure cloud architecture, such as App Services, Azure Functions, Blob Storage, Key Vault, and App Configuration.
• Experience using Application Insights.
• Exposure to Azure SignalR.
• Experience with document processing services such as Azure AI Document Intelligence.
• Experience working in healthcare, financial services, or other regulated environments.
• CI/CD experience using Azure DevOps or similar tooling.
• Experience with Hangfire, or similar platforms for managing background task execution.
• Experience implementing around Snowflake or similar big data platforms. Big plus if any experience in data design or deployment and management of these infrastructures.
• Experience taking siloed application logic and migrating to a shared common services architecture.
