Job summary

Bechtel in Argentina seeks a seasoned professional to manage obtaining, maintaining, and monitoring environmental permits for complex project execution. Qualifications

• University degree in environmental sciences or related field with license; 5–8 years of environmental management and permits experience; mining/energy/infrastructure experience in Argentina.
• Graduate degree in environmental management or environmental law is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the permits matrix with competent bodies, deadlines and processing timelines.
• Prepare, review and submit the Environmental Impact Report and biennial updates with supporting documentation.
• Manage sectoral permits: water use, effluent, emissions, hazardous waste, soil movement, native vegetation and hazardous substances transport.
• Maintain dialogue with provincial and national authorities, respond to observations and audits.
• Alert on critical permits and propose sequencing alternatives to protect the schedule.
• Define scope of environmental baselines (air, noise, water, soils, flora/fauna, archaeology) and supervise consultants.
• Review consultant deliverables for methodological sufficiency and data traceability.
• Evaluate environmental impacts and mitigation measures; ensure incorporated into design specs.
• Estimate hours, costs and deadlines of environmental studies for budget.
