RYZ Labs is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and grow a fast-moving engineering team from Buenos Aires, Argentina, with strong travel to NYC. You will shape technical direction, improve engineering excellence, and ensure reliable, elegant products at speed.

The role emphasizes hiring, mentoring, and building a high-performing culture across frontend, backend, and infrastructure, including AI tool development and process improvement.

Mostly remote position (cowork once a week) - From Buenos Aires, Argentina

Ryz Labs is looking for an Engineering Manager to join our client's fast-moving team, and help shape the next chapter of their project. You will build, mentor, and scale a high-impact engineering team, playing a key role in shaping their technical direction, improving engineering excellence, and ensuring they deliver reliable, elegant products at speed.This role is expected to be highly travel-intensive, particularly in the first few months, so a valid U.S. Travel Visa is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and coach engineers across frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
• Partner with other leads to define priorities, scope projects, and support effective planning.
• Facilitate architectural discussions and provide technical direction.
• Lead AI integration for the project, and the building of new AI tools to increase speed and efficiency.
• Ensure strong engineering practices around code quality, testing, documentation, and reliability.
• Oversee project execution: unblock teams, manage timelines, and coordinate cross-functional efforts.
• Support team growth through hiring, onboarding, and building a high-performing, inclusive culture.
• Run and refine engineering processes, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and 1:1s.
• Drive continuous improvements in velocity, collaboration, technical excellence, and communication.
• Collaborate with leadership to define long-term technical strategy and scaling plans.
• Advocate for the team and manage expectations across stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in engineering management or technical leadership roles.
• Valid U.S. Travel Visa and passport, since trips to NYC will be expected, especially in the first few months of the role (costs will be covered by the company)
• Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices, architectures, and delivery workflows across web or platform teams.
• Ability to provide technical direction, review engineering decisions, and guide system design.
• Proven success in hiring, managing, mentoring, and developing engineers across multiple seniority levels.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly with product, design, and business partners.
• Experience leading teams in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where priorities, processes, and systems evolve rapidly.
• Ability to balance execution speed, technical quality, and long-term strategic thinking

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with distributed systems, DevOps practices, or cloud architectures at a conceptual level.
• Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and reliability best practices.
