Cashea is seeking an Engineering Lead to drive backend architecture and technical strategy in a fast-growing fintech startup. You will own backend services built with Node.js and NestJS, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance while mentoring a team of developers.

Based in Buenos Aires, you will collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps to align technical solutions with business goals, and help guide hiring and growth of the engineering squad.

Formación

• 5+ years in backend development with leadership experience.
• Proficient in Node.js and NestJS (Express) for scalable apps.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with CI/CD, testing, and monitoring.

About the role:

• Act as the Engineering lead within a squad, guiding the team on architectural decisions, best practices, and technical execution


• Collaborate closely with frontend technical leads, ensuring smooth integration between backend and frontend services


• Lead the technical strategy for backend development, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance


• Own the architecture and design of backend services, establishing best practices and guiding the team on complex technical decisions


• Develop and maintain robust, high-performance backend services using Node.js and NestJS (Express)


• Drive technical innovation by researching and implementing new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance development processes


• Ensure system reliability and performance through well-structured testing, monitoring, and logging strategies


• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to align technical solutions with business goals


• Mentor and coach backend developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning


• Establish and enforce coding standards and best practices for backend development


• Oversee deployments and production operations, ensuring high availability and fast issue resolution


• Participate in hiring processes, helping to attract and assess top engineering talent

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in backend development, with at least 2 years in a leadership or technical lead role


• Strong expertise in Node.js and NestJS (Express) for building scalable backend applications


• Deep understanding of RESTful API design, security, and performance optimization


• Advanced knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, including database modeling, performance tuning, and query optimization


• Experience implementing unit, integration, and end-to-end testing frameworks


• Expertise in architectural patterns such as microservices, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems


• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (preferably GCP), and infrastructure-as-code (IaC)


• Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to mentor and develop engineering teams


• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and squads


• Problem-solving mindset, analytical thinking, and ability to navigate complex technical challenges


• Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment with autonomy and ownership


• Spanish and English proficiency

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)


• Familiarity with messaging and event-driven architectures (RabbitMQ, Kafka, PubSub)


• Exposure to serverless computing and cloud-native development patterns
