What this job involves

The Engineer Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the technical excellence and operational reliability of Microsoft facilities across assigned countries in Latin America. This role requires hands-on expertise in building systems, proactive maintenance management, and the ability to drive continuous improvement while maintaining Microsoft's high standards for facility operations across corporate offices, data centers, and mixed-use commercial properties.

Your day-to-day tasks will include:
  • Maintaining comprehensive Asset Registers and conducting condition assessments to develop 5-10 year Life Cycle Renewal plans with cost estimates and prioritization matrices
  • Managing planned maintenance execution to achieve 95%+ completion rate using Microsoft's CMMS system while implementing Reliability Centered Maintenance principles
  • Overseeing building systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, fire & life safety, building automation, and mechanical infrastructure across multiple facility types
  • Providing 24/7 emergency response capability for critical system failures and leading technical incident response while coordinating with Microsoft stakeholders
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance with local building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards while supporting internal and external audits
  • Managing vendor relationships and contractor performance against SLAs while conducting quality inspections and supporting procurement activities
  • Tracking KPIs including asset uptime (>99.5%), energy performance, and safety metrics while implementing sustainability initiatives and innovation projects
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or related technical field
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in facilities management, building engineering, or technical operations
  • Expert knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems
  • Proficiency in CMMS systems and preventive maintenance program development
  • English intermediate skills mandatory for communication with Microsoft stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Understanding of commercial building systems and maintenance practices
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working in Latin American markets and understanding of regional business practices
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Smart Building technologies
  • Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and energy management programs
  • Familiarity with Microsoft workplace standards and corporate facility operations
  • Project management certification or experience leading cross-functional technical teams
  • Experience with IoT devices, data analytics, and building performance optimization
  • Background in emergency response planning and business continuity procedures
