Job summary

Canadian Blood Services is seeking a Regular part-time Registered Nurse (Donor Centre Nurse) to join our dynamic Collections team in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. You will assist in the collection of blood and blood products, perform phlebotomy, and ensure donor safety and documentation.

The role requires an accredited nursing program, RN license in the province, and is based in a donor centre with shift variability (days/evenings/weekends/holidays).

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited nursing program and current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the province is required.
• 2 years of experience working as a nurse is considered an asset as is a certification in First Aid and CPR.
• Previous experience as a preceptor or with coaching others is an asset.
• Technical skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and the ability to learn new systems and programs.
• Ability to communicate in more than one language is an asset and enhances the quality of donor interactions.

Responsibilities

• Provide phlebotomy and donor care following established safety protocols.
• Maintain complete and precise records across multiple systems (screening, collection, product storage, sample preparation, packaging).
• Deliver an exceptional donor experience and promote donations.
• Coach and consult donor centre staff; act as team lead for collection events as needed.
• Ensure post-donation care and instruction and monitor donor safety and comfort.
