Descripción del empleo

Satellogic is a vertically integrated Earth Observation company that designs, manufactures, and operates satellite systems, delivering decision-grade insights at scale to government and commercial customers.

We build space systems end-to-end, from satellite design and manufacturing to launch and on-orbit operations, giving us the ability to deploy quickly, operate reliably, and support persistent monitoring across regions and priority areas. Our approach moves customers beyond one-off imagery toward continuous awareness and alert-driven decision-making, with flexible pathways that can evolve from managed monitoring to full satellite ownership and sovereign control.

Our technology supports a wide range of use cases across climate monitoring, agriculture, energy, infrastructure, defense and intelligence, helping organizations detect change, manage risk, and plan with confidence.

With a team distributed across five countries, Satellogic brings together expertise in satellite engineering, software development, data science, manufacturing, operations, and go-to-market. We’re a group of purpose-driven builders who value ownership, curiosity, and execution—and who work with humility, honesty, and empathy.

About the team

The Mission Operations (M&O) team is responsible for the in-orbit operations of the company’s satellite constellation. We oversee the entire operation from launch, commissioning, day-to-day operations, and decommissioning of the satellites. For day-to-day operations, we provide user interfaces to request data (imagery, experiments, etc.) and we handle the planning optimization , collection and download of the requested data. On top of that, we make sure that our satellites are in the correct orbits, out of collision courses, healthy, and up-to-date with the latest software upgrades coming from the engineering teams.

Within MO, the Data Transfer and Connectivity (DTC) team is responsible for the communication service with our satellites. The team provides the tools and infrastructure for downloading hundreds of GB of imagery as well as uploading and downloading commands and housekeeping data. To do so, the team manages the different ground stations and antennas around the world, the ground software systems and APIs, and a part of the communications stack.

The DCT team’s mission is to guarantee seamless, effective, and cost-efficient communication with the satellites, and ensure that every file is uploaded and downloaded timely, reliably and safely. The team is always learning and trying to push the limits of the technology and the available resources.

About the position

As a telecommunication engineer, you will develop and operate your own software tools to make sure that system runs efficiently and that meets the requirements for its daily operations. You will be responsible for reporting any anomaly observed on the data transfer’s ground segment, making sure that data is well received and delivered on time to the downstream pipelines. You will need to be able to understand the technology stack perfectly and develop production software in order to automate the way to find anomalies.

Location

Hybrid work from Argentina or Spain. Satellogic’s office locations include Buenos Aires and Cordoba (ARG) and Barcelona (SPA).

Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day operation of the different systems and communication performance and report on KPIs.
  • Ensure 24/7 uptime of the Data Transfers and Connectivity systems by maintaining a healthy on-call program of which you will be a part of.

  • Design and maintain a continuous improvement technology in line with Operations and Engineering team requirements.
  • Manage the existing ground station suppliers, and expand our ground segment network to meet the growth of our constellation and our business.
  • Oversee the licensing and regulatory aspects of satellite communications.
