Descripción del empleo

Satellogic is a vertically integrated Earth Observation company that designs, manufactures, and operates satellite systems, delivering decision-grade insights at scale to government and commercial customers.

We build space systems end-to-end, from satellite design and manufacturing to launch and on-orbit operations, giving us the ability to deploy quickly, operate reliably, and support persistent monitoring across regions and priority areas. Our approach moves customers beyond one-off imagery toward continuous awareness and alert-driven decision-making, with flexible pathways that can evolve from managed monitoring to full satellite ownership and sovereign control.

Our technology supports a wide range of use cases across climate monitoring, agriculture, energy, infrastructure, defense and intelligence, helping organizations detect change, manage risk, and plan with confidence.

With a team distributed across five countries, Satellogic brings together expertise in satellite engineering, software development, data science, manufacturing, operations, and go-to-market. We’re a group of purpose-driven builders who value ownership, curiosity, and execution—and who work with humility, honesty, and empathy.

About the team

In this initial position, you will be part of a diverse, multidisciplinary team accountable for the end-to-end development of a new satellite constellation. The team leads the definition of mission objectives, system architecture, and technical requirements, while also managing design trade-offs, subsystem integration, and system-level verification. Collaboration, ownership, and technical depth are key to the team’s success.

About the position

As a Satellite Bus Systems Engineer, you will lead the design, integration, and validation of complex satellite systems at the system level. Your responsibilities include defining system architecture, managing inter-subsystem interfaces, and leading system-level testing and verification activities.

You will collaborate closely with teams across multiple domains—including Attitude Control, Power, Comms, Thermal, Opto-Electronics, and Software—to ensure all spacecraft elements function together as a coherent, high-performance system.

In addition to your technical duties, you will support program planning by aligning technical tasks with program milestones and providing critical input on cost drivers influenced by technical choices. Your role balances performance, risk, schedule, and cost considerations throughout the system lifecycle.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the definition and management of satellite-level requirements and satellite architecture based on mission goals.
  • Conduct technical trade studies, risk analyses, and system simulations to inform design decisions.
  • Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) that govern subsystem interactions.
  • Coordinate integration activities and ensure inter-disciplinary compatibility across spacecraft systems.
  • Lead system-level testing, including functional, environmental, and verification tests.
  • Provide and maintain system-level documentation, focusing on system requirements and technical budgets (mass, power, data, thermal, etc.) throughout all lifecycle phases (PDR, CDR, AIT, etc.).
  • Collaborate closely with subsystem engineers to ensure alignment across interfaces and budgets.
  • Monitor system performance and track anomalies during integration and test phases.
  • Identify and manage technical risks at the system level, driving mitigation efforts.
  • Support program planning by aligning technical activities with milestones and advising on cost-impacting technical decisions.
  • Lead and present system-level design reviews, ensuring quality and compliance.

About you

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Engineering, Physics, or related).
  • 2+ years of experience in multidisciplinary engineering or systems-level development.
  • Experience in systems integration, design analysis, or validation in aerospace, defense, or similarly complex environments.

Required Skills

  • Systems Thinking: Ability to consider the entire spacecraft system, manage trade-offs, and maintain cross-domain coherence.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working in a cross-functional team with shared responsibilities.
  • Problem Solving: A structured and proactive approach to resolving technical issues.
  • Organization: Able to manage multiple interfaces, deliverables, and timelines effectively.

Tools & Technologies (valued but not mandatory)

  • Systems modeling or simulation tools (Python, MATLAB, etc.).
  • CAD or design tools (NX or similar).
  • System-level analysis or mission design tools (e.g., STK).
  • Experience with environmental and functional testing standards for space hardware is a plus.

Diversity Commitment

Satellogic values diversity and inclusion and is an equal opportunity employer. We are convinced that hiring and developing top talent from around the world for any given discipline will drive innovation, generate new solutions, and deliver a superior product to our global customer base. We work to build an equitable and inclusive environment in which all people, regardless of gender, race, religion, or background, can come together to do their best work.
