A leading company in agriculture technology is seeking a Hybrid Commodity Data Scientist in Argentina. This role involves developing market insights, managing large datasets, and applying machine learning to enhance decision-making in agriculture. Formación

We are seeking Hybrid Commodity Data Scientist to join our team in Argentina.

Overview

This person will join our rapidly growing Ag market advisory business as a thoughtleader who will enable all of our commercial business units through research, insights, and recommendations. This person will be fundamental to establishing our company as a leader in the Ag Market Advisory space. This is a unique opportunity to become a critical part of a high-value business line at one of the fastest growing companies in the Ag industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the brokerage and data science team to develop, maintain, and update a commodity price forecasting and market bias engine that evolves with new data and model improvements
  • Identify, ingest and analyze large-scale, multi-dimensional agricultural datasets (e.g., USDA, satellite imagery, weather, shipping/export data, supply/demand) to develop key insights
  • Design and structure market data, forecasts, and insights in a way that enables seamless integration with a large language model (LLM)-powered chat tool, ensuring accurate, timely, and context-aware communication of market updates to farmer subscribers
  • Translate complex model outputs into simple, farmer-relevant narratives and visuals that support crop marketing decisions
  • Support in-field advisory program by communicating analysis and recommendations to our farmer-facing advisors on a regular basis
  • Relay insights and forecasts in public settings, including but not limited to our farmer seminars and media interviews
  • Work closely with product team to develop the next generation of online tools to support marketing efforts for individual farm operations
  • Help to continually refine our Crop Marketing philosophy and identify new ways it can serve the marketing needs of its members
Qualifications
  • Required characteristics/qualifications include:
  • MS or Ph.D required
  • 3–7 years in quantitative research, data science, or analytics roles within commodity markets, agtech, trading firms, hedge funds, or research institutions
  • Demonstrated ability to apply machine learning and AI techniques (e.g., ensemble models, deep learning, time-series modeling) to commodity market datasets
  • Familiarity with NLP models (e.g., LLMs) and prompt engineering to support AI-enhanced customer communication
  • Proficient in data visualization tools and frameworks that can deliver actionable insights to non-technical audiences (e.g., dashboards, automated reports)
  • Experience collaborating across teams (engineering, sales, product) to align modeling outputs with commercial needs and customer value
  • Passionate about agriculture and farming; a desire to put the farmer first
  • Highly independent, goal-oriented and creative
  • Commodity Analyst – Data Science
  • A willingness to work in a fast-paced start-up environment, this is not a 9-5 job
  • Willingness to travel 10-15% of time
  • Preferred characteristics/qualifications include:
  • Specialized knowledge of corn, soybeans, wheat markets
  • Experience in high-level programming environments such as R, Python, MatLab, PostgreSQL
  • Application of latest machine learning toolsets to price prediction and its underlying supply and demand components

Compensation: $35 - $40 an hour
