Job summary

Chevron is seeking a Chemical Specialist for the El Trapial Field in Neuquén, Argentina. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and optimizing chemical treatment and corrosion control programs to support safe, reliable operations.

You will work with operations, laboratories, and service providers to improve performance, forecast costs, and pursue efficiency improvements while evaluating new technologies. Rotation and safety are core to the schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of proven experience in chemical treatment and corrosion control strategies.
• Experience interpreting chemical treatment monitoring data and recommending changes to corrosion control strategies.
• Intermediate level of English.

Responsibilities

• Design, manage, and implement chemical treatment and corrosion control strategies, including chemical treatment, corrosion monitoring and inspection activities, as well as the preparation and delivery of reports and the identification and assessment of significant trends.
• Provide technical assessment and interpretation of chemical treatment monitoring data and recommend changes to corrosion criticality analyses and monitoring/inspection programs (chemical treatment, reservoir souring, corrosion, materials, coating applications, and cathodic protection). Utilise NACE, EPTC, API, ASTM, AISI, AWS, SSCP, and other Oil & Gas industry standards.
• Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for water, oil, and gas treatment facilities and chemical treatment services in El Trapial Field to improve Operational Excellence (OE), production, reliability, efficiency, and cost performance.
• Follow up on contractor performance through daily field visits and maintain ongoing interaction with Operations & Maintenance (O&M), Laboratory, and chemical service provider personnel.
• Lead OE execution in the field, with a strong focus on safety, ensuring every activity is performed in accordance with process safety and HSE standards.
• Prepare forecasts and perform monthly tracking of operating costs and facility improvements related to the transportation, dosing, and storage of chemical products in the field.
• Propose and lead medium- and long-term optimization initiatives focused on reliability, integrity, operational efficiency, and reduction of total treatment costs.
• Identify, evaluate, and propose new technologies.
