Job summary

SCALEUP is hiring a Backend Engineer – Python, AWS & GenAIer for a fully remote role limited to Argentina. You will design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems powering AI/GenAI solutions, with end-to-end ownership from API design to deployment and monitoring.

Ideal candidates will have strong Python backend experience, hands-on AWS, and exposure to AI/GenAI workflows, vector databases, and embedding services, delivering reliable, scalable services in a distributed environment.

Qualifications

• Strong Python backend development experience.
• Experience with FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Designing and building scalable APIs and backend services.
• Exposure to AI/ML or GenAI applications, including model integrations.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services.
• Experience with Docker and modern deployment pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable backend systems using Python and frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Develop services for document retrieval, processing pipelines, and AI/GenAI workflows.
• Design reliable APIs that connect AI models, vector databases, embeddings, or document-processing systems.
• Build reusable Python components that integrate with AWS services.
• Work with containers, asynchronous processing, and distributed systems.
• Implement logging, metrics, tracing, and internal tools to monitor performance.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems supporting advanced AI and GenAI solutions for enterprise customers.

This role is ideal for an engineer with strong Python backend development experience who enjoys solving complex technical problems and building reliable systems that integrate AI/ML models, vector databases, embedding services, data pipelines, and AWS infrastructure.

The successful candidate will take end-to-end ownership of backend systems, from architecture and API design to deployment, monitoring, optimization, and long-term maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
