Overview of the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Assistant Resident Engineer specializing in Marine Supervision to join our team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing marine construction projects, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining high-quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising marine construction projects, including dredging, land reclamation, and coastal protection works
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to project specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations
  • Review and analyze technical drawings, specifications, and contractor submittals
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, progress updates, and quality control documentation
  • Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure project milestones are met
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to maintain efficiency
  • Implement and oversee quality control measures throughout the construction process
  • Assist in the preparation of contract variations and claims assessments
  • Ensure compliance with local and international maritime regulations and standards
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical input to support decision-making processes
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in marine engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience in supervising marine construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of marine engineering principles and coastal engineering concepts
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and analytical thinking
  • Strong technical report writing abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Thorough understanding of maritime regulations and standards
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
  • Willingness to work on-site in challenging marine environments
