Whole School Arabic A Coordinator - Curriculum – an education management role in GEMS International School, Dubai Hills, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, focusing on Arabic language learning across Primary and Secondary phases.
Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Industry: Education Management; Function: Classroom Teaching; Job Type: Full-time; Salary: 16,000 – 24,000 AED per month (estimated).
This role coordinates curriculum delivery, supports Arabic teachers, monitors student progress, and strengthens Arabic language learning.
Core Duties
- Coordinate the planning, delivery, and review of the Arabic A curriculum across Primary and Secondary phases.
- Ensure Arabic A curriculum provision supports school expectations, IB standards where applicable, KHDA requirements, and UAE Ministry of Education guidance.
- Support Arabic A teachers through mentoring, lesson‑planning guidance, classroom practice improvement, and collaborative professional dialogue.
- Monitor student achievement using assessment results, classroom evidence, progress data, and moderation outcomes.
- Use student performance information to identify learning gaps, recommend interventions, and support improvement planning.
- Lead curriculum planning meetings, moderation activities, standardisation processes, and cross‑phase alignment discussions.
- Promote consistent teaching expectations, learning outcomes, assessment practices, and Arabic language progression across year groups.
- Work with school leaders to implement improvement priorities related to Arabic A learning, student progress, compliance, and curriculum quality.
- Foster strong communication between Primary and Secondary Arabic A teams to ensure continuity and shared practice.
- Support whole‑school initiatives that promote Arabic language, UAE culture, Islamic values where relevant, national identity, and respect for local heritage.
- Prepare curriculum documentation, teaching plans, assessment records, progress reports, and evidence required for internal reviews or external inspections.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop engaging learning experiences that build fluency, literacy, comprehension, writing, speaking, and cultural understanding.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and internationally minded school culture that reflects GEMS values and the IB Learner Profile.
Ideal Profile
- Qualified teacher with relevant teaching qualifications such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent.
- Experience teaching Arabic A within an international school setting.
- Strong understanding of KHDA, UAE Ministry of Education, and IB curriculum requirements.
- Proven ability to coordinate curriculum planning, teaching standards, assessment processes, and student progress review.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage documentation, schedules, meetings, and cross‑phase priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with teachers, school leaders, students, and parents.
- Ability to mentor Arabic A teachers and support professional growth within a collaborative team.
- Good understanding of Primary and Secondary Arabic A learning needs, curriculum continuity, and student progression.
- Passion for promoting Arabic language, UAE culture, national identity, and meaningful language learning.
