Job summary

Star Services in the United Arab Emirates is seeking an experienced grinder and welder for its steel production operations. The role requires hands-on work with heavy sections, sheet piles, and precision grinding and welding to meet exacting quality standards in a busy rectification yard.

Qualifications

• Primary/secondary education as minimum, with industrial training.

Responsibilities

• Understand dimensions for sections & sheet piles to verify quality after welding & grinding.
• Segregate rectified material into prime/scrap, then stack and strap per requirement.
• Inform Rectification Supervisor and Section Head about issues during rectification.
• Coordinate with outsourced contractors to resolve problems.
• Wear PPE for welding, grinding & gas cutting and prepare required tools/equipment.
• Maintain on-site Fire extinguisher and keep area clear of combustibles.
• Follow supervisor instructions for grinding, welding, gas cutting, bending and marking.
• Grind sharp edges and report defects observed during processing.
• Sample burning material and re-test as instructed.
• Assist in scrap cutting and operation with crane/forklift when needed.
• Support band saw & gag press operators in cutting to length and bundling.
• Assist maintenance during breakdowns; uphold safety standards.

Must Have Steel Industry Experience

• 5 Years working experience as grinder & welder in steel Industries,
• Aware of Grinding, welding & rectification of heavy sections Finished goods.

• Working in rectification yard of any Mill

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)

• Must be able to understand the dimensions required for sections & Sheet piles so that he can verify the accuracy required to achieve the quality of the held product after welding & grinding.
• After rectification of the material, all the products must be segregated from prime /scrap, then stack it accordingly & strap it as per requirement.
• Keep both the Rectification Supervisor and Section Head informed about all kind of issues & problems arise during the rectification job.
• Coordinate with other outsourced contractors & service/supplier to get the problem solved.
• Self-preparation by wearing proper PPE for welding, grinding & Gas cutting jobs which is to be performed as per the work instruction.
• Prepare proper tools & equipment's including Fire extinguisher at the site for the work to be performed also cleared the areas around from combustible material.
• Following the instruction given by the area supervisor for the assigned jobs like Grinding, welding, Gas cutting or burning, heating, bending, hammering, stencil marking, manual binding, label replacing etc.

• Grinding the Sharp edges of the sections for clearing saw rags with care and if any defects observed on the material that need to be reported & rectified.
• Burning material & collecting samples as per instruction for re-sampling which need to be re-tested.
• If required to cut Scrap/cobble & helping in dispose off using Crane or Forklift whenever required.
• Assisting Band saw & Gag press operators in performing cut to length or crop cutting, manual stacking & bundling etc.as per requirements.

• Help the operation/maintenance team during any breakdown work if required in the Mill & Finishing area for welding, cutting, cleaning or any other work which need to be done.
• All the jobs to be performed with utmost care observing all the safety standards for one-self & his colleague working around.
• Ensure to follow the Safe work instruction & the procedures always.
