Job summary

JD.com is seeking a Site Safety professional to oversee safety programs across a Dubai warehouse operation. The role focuses on daily inspections, hazard identification, and ensuring compliance with UAE safety regulations.

You will lead safety inductions, coordinate with contractors, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced logistics environment. Ideal candidates hold a NEBOSH IGC, have 3–5 years in warehouse safety, and can communicate effectively in English.

Qualifications

• Mandatory NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) in Occupational Health and Safety.
• 3–5 years of relevant work experience in warehouse safety, logistics operations, or site safety management.
• Experience in safety management within large warehouses or ecommerce fulfillment centers in UAE (JAFZA preferred).
• Knowledge of UAE/Dubai health and safety laws and regulatory requirements.
• Good English communication skills to clearly convey safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily safety inspections, site walks, and Gemba Walks in warehouse areas.
• Identify unsafe behaviors and hazardous conditions and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform visual checks of fire safety equipment and emergency systems.
• Report equipment failures and safety issues to the Loss Prevention/Manager as needed.
• Monitor contractors and service providers for safety compliance and permits.
• Ensure safety controls for high-risk activities (hot work, work at height, electrical work).
• Stop unsafe work when imminent risk is identified and escalate as required.
• Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings to staff and visitors.
• Investigate injuries, near misses, and fire/security incidents with proper documentation.
• Track corrective actions and verify timely closure with responsible departments.
• Maintain records of inspections, risk assessments, incidents, permits, and actions.
• Support emergency drills and internal safety audits.
• Collaborate with Warehouse Ops, Engineering, Facilities, Security, HR and contractors on safety improvements.
• Prepare shift safety reports and ensure effective handover between day and night shifts.

About The Team

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct daily safety inspections, site walks, and Gemba Walks across warehouse operational areas.
• Identify unsafe behaviors, hazardous conditions, and potential risks associated with material handling, forklifts, electric pallet trucks, racking systems, goods stacking, conveyor systems, and pedestrian movement.
• Conduct visual checks of on-site fire safety conditions and the apparent condition of fire alarm control panels, automatic sprinkler systems, fire hydrants, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, fire doors, and emergency exits.
• Promptly report fire safety equipment failures, water leaks, abnormal or closed fire system valves, obstructed evacuation routes, and other significant fire safety issues.
• Monitor contractors and maintenance service providers to ensure compliance with site safety requirements, relevant work permits, and required safety control measures.
• Monitor safety controls for high-risk activities, including hot work, work at height, electrical work, temporary electrical installations, lifting operations, and maintenance activities.
• Exercise the authority to stop unsafe work when an imminent safety risk is identified, and promptly escape serious violations and significant safety hazards to the Loss Prevention Team Lead / Manager.
• Deliver site safety inductions, toolbox talks, and safety awareness briefings to employees, contractors, and visitors as required.
• Report, investigate, or assist in investigating workplace injuries, near misses, fire alarm activation incidents, equipment damage, and other safety-related events.
• Track corrective and preventive actions, coordinate with responsible departments and contractors, and verify that identified issues are rectified within agreed timelines.
• Maintain safety inspection records, risk assessments, incident reports, work permits, and corrective action tracking logs.
• Support emergency response procedures, evacuation drills, fire safety awareness activities, and internal safety audits.
• Work collaboratively with Warehouse Operations, Engineering and Facilities, Security, HR, and contractors to resolve site safety issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Prepare shift safety reports and ensure effective handover between day and night shifts, covering outstanding hazards, abnormal incidents, ongoing high-risk activities, and temporary risk control measures.

REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Mandatory Certification: NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) in Occupational Health and Safety.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience in warehouse safety, logistics operations, industrial safety, or site safety management.
• Experience in safety management within large warehouses, e-commerce fulfillment centers, distribution centers, or logistics facilities in JAFZA is preferred.
• Practical experience in hazard identification, risk assessment, safety inspections, incident reporting, and corrective action follow-up.
• Experience in fire safety inspections, contractor management, and supervision of high-risk work activities is preferred.
• Knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety and fire safety laws and regulatory requirements in the UAE and Dubai.
