Job summary

Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai invites applications for a Waiter/ess in our Chinese restaurant within the Restaurants, Bars & Experiences team. You will take orders, serve Guests, and ensure every dining moment meets our standards, reporting to the RB&E Supervisor.

Based in Dubai, the role requires strong English, at least 2 years’ experience in a luxury setting, and knowledge of POS systems. Preference given to candidates with a higher education in Hospitality or Business Management and

Qualifications

• High School qualification or equivalent; degree advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as waiter/waitress in high-volume or luxury setting.
• Strong English; additional languages such as Arabic are a plus.
• Knowledge of restaurant POS and cashiering procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of the Chinese menu, ingredients, and pairings.
• Take accurate orders and relay to kitchen and bar; ensure timely delivery.
• Address dietary needs and allergies; inform staff of guest preferences.
• Provide attentive, personalized service and upsell services and products.
• Operate the POS system, process billing, and set up/clear tables per standards.
• Create WOW moments to surprise and delight guests per LQES.

About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Restaurants, Bars & Experiences team in Dubai, as a Waiter/ess in our Chinese restaurant, you are critical in providing an exceptional dining experience for our guests. The role includes taking orders, serving Restaurants, Bars & Experiences, and ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience meets our standards. The Waiter/ess will report to the RB&E Supervisor.

As a Waiter/ess, you will beresponsiblefor the following duties:

• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Chinese menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and pairing recommendations. Offer suggestions and answer questions to enhance the guest experience.
• Take accurate Restaurants, Bars & Experiences orders from guests, communicate clearly to the kitchen and bar staff, and ensure all orders are delivered promptly and according to guest specifications.
• Address special requests or dietary needs professionally and carefully, ensuring management and kitchen colleagues are informed of guest preferences or allergies.
• Provide attentive and personalized service to guests, ensuring their enjoyable dining experience. Properly upsell services and products to guests, enhancing service and generating increased revenue.
• Operated the POS system to process Restaurants, Bars & Experiences orders, performed billing tasks according to hotel and cashiering policies, and set up and cleared tables according to restaurant standards.
• Create WOW moments to surprise and delight guests, ensuring customer satisfaction from arrival to departure, following MOHG Legendary Quality Experiences (LQES).

As a Waiter/ess, weexpectfrom you:

• A High School qualification or equivalent is preferred, and a Degree or higher national diploma in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management is advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a waiter/waitress, preferably in a high-volume restaurant or luxury hotel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with additional languages such as Arabic being a plus.
• Knowledge of acceptable dining service procedures and standards, and familiarity with restaurant point of sales and cashiering procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to interact effectively with guests and colleagues, and understanding of the service flow.
• Demonstrates the physical ability to stand for extended periods and the flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in accordance with business requirements.
