Job summary

OBT Group in Dubai seeks a Vessel Screening Analyst to join the Group Compliance team at the Head Office. You will review vessels, focusing on sanctions-related and maritime risk factors, and prepare clear, structured screening reports.

You will support governance, ensure audit-ready processes, and contribute to responsible shipping operations across the Group, working with senior management on regional and international projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, Law, International Relations, or a related field.
• Experience in shipping, maritime operations, compliance, risk, or screening-related roles.
• Basic understanding of maritime operations, vessel movements, and shipping documentation.
• Familiarity with AIS data and maritime risk indicators.
• Strong analytical skills and a proportionate, risk-based approach to assessment.
• High attention to detail and ability to produce clear, structured written outputs.
• Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
• Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and compliance systems.

Responsibilities

• Review vessels escalated from first-line screening.
• Perform risk-based vessel screening using approved tools and data sources.
• Assess vessel risk indicators, including sanctions-sensitive trading, high-risk port calls, AIS gaps, STS exposure, and other maritime risk signals.
• Prepare clear and structured vessel screening reports in line with Group compliance standards.
• Escalate vessels with high-risk indicators or material uncertainty to the Group Compliance Officer.
• Support the upkeep and improvement of vessel screening templates, checklists, and workflows.
• Maintain accurate screening records and ensure audit-ready traceability.
• Liaise with colleagues to clarify inputs, request additional information, and meet review timelines.
• Support consistent application of vessel screening standards across the Group.
• Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism in all screening activities and documentation.

As a Vessel Screening Analyst you will join our Group Compliance team at our Head Office in Dubai.

In this role, you will support the Group Compliance Officer by reviewing vessels across the OBT Group, with a focus on sanctions-related and maritime risk factors. You will be responsible for conducting risk-based vessel screening, assessing key maritime risk indicators, and preparing clear, structured screening reports in line with Group procedures. Acting as a key support function within Compliance, you will ensure vessel-related risks are identified, documented, and escalated consistently, contributing to strong governance, audit-ready processes, and responsible shipping operations across the Group.
