Job summary

The Boring Company is seeking an EHS Lead to drive health, safety, and environmental performance on a tunneling project. You will embed with operations teams, enforce regulatory standards, and foster safe behaviors in a high-pressure underground setting.

You will lead risk assessments, investigations, and JHAs, while maintaining documentation and training records. Strong field experience and certifications like CSP/CHST are a plus for this critical role.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in construction or heavy industrial EHS roles (tunneling, mining, or oil & gas preferred).
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA (preferred), confined space, LOTO, and respiratory protection standards.
• Experience conducting field audits and writing JHAs, incident reports, and environmental compliance documentation.
• Comfortable working in underground environments and around heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily field operations to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and company policies.
• Perform regular tunnel and surface inspections, including pre-shift walkthroughs, equipment checks, air quality sampling, and confined space protocols.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive action implementation.
• Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and toolbox talks with crews.
• Maintain EHS documentation, training records, and regulatory reports.
• Support emergency response preparedness and training exercises.
• Collaborate with superintendents, miners, and technicians to identify and mitigate job-specific risks.
