Job summary

The Boring Company in Dubai seeks an experienced Civil Engineer with a UAE PE license to lead civil design and field operations on large underground projects. You will integrate survey data, oversee AutoCAD Civil 3D designs, and ensure QA across multi-site development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• 5-15 years of civil engineering experience; seniority determined by experience.
• Surveying experience and ability to lead field operations.
• Active Civil Engineering PE license or UAE equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of civil design plans, engineering details, reports and exhibits using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Oversee integration of legal descriptions, survey data and aerial imagery into final plans across large multi-stakeholder projects.
• Direct and validate digitization of as-built civil drawings; establish QA processes for drawing fidelity.
• Conduct and supervise field investigations, site surveys, utility mapping and subsurface data collection.
• Provide senior oversight of survey measurements, property boundary determinations and alignment verification.
• Ensure tunnel and field survey guidance systems remain accurate and operational.
• Own survey equipment inventory and maintenance across multiple jobsites.
• Produce high-quality progress reports and communicate technical decisions to leadership.

Job description

The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.

To facilitate this rapid expansion we are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with PE licensure and a strong background in land development site design utilities mapping or subsurface infrastructure. Tunneling experience is not required; success in this role comes from deep technical judgment high ownership and the ability to lead complex field and design operations with precision.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of civil design plans engineering details reports and technical exhibits using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Oversee the integration of legal descriptions survey data and aerial imagery into final engineering plans ensuring accuracy across large multi-stakeholder projects.
• Direct and validate the digitization of as-built civil utility and structural drawings; establish QA processes to maintain drawing fidelity across project phases.
• Conduct and supervise field investigations physical site surveys utility mapping efforts subsurface data collection and engineering documentation.
• Provide senior oversight of survey measurements property boundary determinations and alignment verification for critical guidance systems.
• Ensure tunnel and field survey guidance systems remain accurate calibrated and operational.
• Own survey equipment inventory maintenance schedules and operational readiness across multiple active jobsites.
• Produce high-quality progress reports (daily weekly monthly) elevate risks and communicate technical decisions clearly to leadership and cross-functional teams.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Anywhere from 5-15 years of experience in civil engineering (the role seniority will be determined based on your experience).
• Surveying experience and demonstrated ability to lead field operations.
• Active Civil Engineering PE license or equivalent in UAE

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience in working with engineering teams field technicians and external partners.
• Strong problem-solving instincts technical judgment and ability to operate effectively in ambiguous fast-paced environments.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence cross-disciplinary teams and drive decisions.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a strong sense of urgency and ownership.

Additional Requirements

• Position may require extended hours and weekend work.
• Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed. Up to 20% travel.
• Ability to work outdoors and in confined spaces.
