Job description

Design end-to-end flows and interfaces for government digital services across web and mobile in Arabic and English

Translate research service blueprints and stakeholder requirements into wireframes prototypes and production-ready UI

Build and maintain components in the Dubai Design System and contribute patterns back to it rather than designing one-offs

Prototype interactions in Figma to communicate motion state and edge cases to developers and stakeholders

Work directly with front-end engineers through hand-off implementation and QA review of the built product

Design to WCAG 2 2 AA from the start covering contrast target sizes focus states keyboard paths and screen reader behaviour

Present and defend design decisions to stakeholders across government entities

Figma (essential)
  • Expert-level: auto layout, variables and modes, component properties, variants, nested instances, and constraints.
  • Comfortable building and consuming a shared library rather than only working in local files.
  • Clean, well-named, well-structured files that another designer can pick up without a walkthrough.
Front-end understanding (strongly preferred)
  • Solid grasp of HTML semantics and CSS: the box model, flexbox, grid, responsive breakpoints, and how design tokens map to CSS variables.
  • Understands component-based front-end thinking (props, states, composition) and can read a component's implementation to see why something behaves the way it does.
  • Knows the cost of a design decision before proposing it, and can talk to engineers in their terms.
  • Bonus: has built and shipped something themselves, however small.
Design taste
  • A portfolio showing strong typography, spacing, hierarchy, and restraint, not just tidy wireframes.
  • Can explain why a design works, not only that it looks good.
  • Attention to craft at the pixel level, with judgement about when that level of detail matters.
Ways of working
  • Handles ambiguity and shifting requirements without stalling.
  • Communicates clearly in writing and in presentations.
  • Takes feedback from stakeholders who are not designers and turns it into the underlying problem.
Nice to have
  • Arabic and English bilingual design experience, including RTL layout and Arabic typography.
  • Experience designing within or contributing to a large design system.
  • Public sector or large-scale enterprise product experience.
  • Accessibility work beyond compliance checklists, such as assistive technology testing.

Familiarity with design tokens tooling, Storybook, or version-controlled hand-off workflows
