Reliable telecommunications infrastructure is essential to safe and efficient operations across large oil and gas facilities. This position provides hands‑on technical support to keep field telecom equipment, networks, monitoring systems, and associated communication assets available and serviceable. The Telecom Technician works under the direction of the Telecom Engineer and coordinates with maintenance disciplines, contractors, and external service providers when faults or modifications require multi‑party support. The role combines field inspections, planned maintenance, fault response, network monitoring, installation work, workshop repairs, and maintenance system updates.
The successful candidate should hold a Technical Diploma in a relevant field or a Secondary School Certificate supported by a vocational trade certificate in an appropriate technical discipline. A minimum of 4 years of relevant telecom maintenance experience is required, preferably within the oil and gas industry or another large industrial environment. Candidates should have practical exposure to telecom equipment maintenance, network monitoring, fault finding, testing, installation, workshop repair, and technical documentation. Experience working with Network Management Systems, calibrated test instruments, maintenance work orders, permit-to-work processes, and Maintenance Management Systems will be valuable. The role requires a technician who can work safely across field locations, communicate effectively with engineers and multidisciplinary maintenance teams, and respond methodically to both planned and unplanned telecom maintenance requirements.
