The Team Leader HVAC Fabrication Detailer will lead the HVAC Fabrication Detailing function, combining hands-on technical expertise with team leadership, quality assurance, project planning and stakeholder coordination. The role is responsible for ensuring that HVAC fabrication models and drawings are accurate, coordinated, constructible and delivered within agreed project timelines. The Team Leader will guide the team in converting engineering designs into fabrication-ready outputs while ensuring compliance with applicable project standards, specifications, client requirements, BIM standards and fabrication procedures

Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Model HVAC ductwork based on duct categories, fabrication specifications, and project requirements.
- Prepare ductwork layouts, fittings, transitions, connections, and other fabrication components.
- Produce fabrication-ready shop drawings for manufacturing.
- Generate spool drawings, assembly drawings, installation drawings and detailed fabrication drawings.
- Develop coordinated 3D BIM models.
- Create fabrication-ready hangers and support layouts where required.
- Produce penetration and builders work drawings.
- Generate coordinated ceiling service layouts.
- Develop LOD 300-400 fabrication models.
- Participate in clash detection using Navisworks.
- Utilize Revizto for model coordination, issue tracking, markup, and communication.
- Review and resolve clashes and coordination issues prior to fabrication and installation.
- Update fabrication models based on site conditions, RFIs, design changes, and construction requirements.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of HVAC designs with other MEP disciplines, as well as structural and architectural components.
- Understand various MEP drawings, plans, sections, schematics and standards.
- Prepare detailed design documentation, including specifications, drawings and layout plans.
- Assist in the development of project documentation and reports, providing insights related to HVAC system design and performance.
- Learn and implement relevant services standards and building codes.
- Learn and implement project-specific standards, specifications, modelling requirements, and workflows.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies and software related to BIM and HVAC design.
- Ensure all drawings comply with project standards.
- Maintain model accuracy and drawing quality throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead and manage a team of HVAC Fabrication Detailers, allocating work based on project priorities, complexity and individual capability.
- Review team members fabrication models and drawings for technical accuracy, coordination, constructability and compliance with project standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to detailers and support their development in HVAC fabrication detailing and BIM workflows.
- Plan daily and weekly deliverables and monitor progress against project programmes, milestones and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, BIM coordinators, clients and other discipline leads to resolve technical and coordination issues.
- Identify recurring quality issues and implement corrective actions, checklists and standard workflows to improve team output.
- Support project kick-off, BIM coordination, drawing reviews, RFI responses and design-change implementation.
- Conduct internal quality checks before drawings/models are issued to clients or fabrication teams.
- Assist in resource planning, workload forecasting, training and performance feedback for the team.
- Drive continuous improvement in modelling, detailing, documentation and coordination processes.
Qualification and Experience Required
- BE/BTech Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in a related field.
- ITI/NCTVT certified HVAC Draftsman with relevant experience may also be considered.
- Typically, 7–10 years of relevant HVAC fabrication detailing / MEP BIM experience, with demonstrated experience leading or supervising a team.
- Strong proficiency in BIM methodologies, Autodesk fabrication software and relevant coordination tools.
- Strong understanding of HVAC fabrication, shop drawings, spool drawings, installation drawings and coordinated BIM models.
Preferred / Additional Requirements
- Previous Team Leader / Senior Detailer / BIM Lead experience.
- UAE / Middle East project experience and familiarity with local project delivery practices.
- Experience with Navisworks and Revizto.
- Australian project experience / knowledge of Australian Standards will be an added advantage where applicable.
- Strong communication, stakeholder-management and people-management skills.
- Experience managing multiple projects or work packages simultaneously.
