Role Context

The Teacher - Islamic Studies will help students develop a sound understanding of Islamic principles, values, and learning objectives through structured, age-appropriate teaching. The position combines subject delivery with assessment, classroom leadership, student wellbeing, parent communication, extracurricular participation, and contribution to the wider educational life of Al Rayana Charter School. Working within a diverse school community, the teacher will adapt instruction to different learning abilities and support students whose first language may not be English. Effective teaching in this role will contribute not only to academic progress but also to students ' confidence, personal responsibility, respect, and engagement with the values promoted throughout the school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging Islamic Studies lessons that encourage participation, understanding, reflection, and measurable student progress.
  • Translate curriculum requirements into well-structured classroom activities suited to different learning abilities and developmental stages.
  • Work closely with fellow teachers to coordinate lesson planning, curriculum delivery, resources, assessments, and learning priorities.
  • Create an organized and stimulating classroom environment supported by appropriate displays, materials, activities, and learning resources.
  • Use imaginative teaching approaches to motivate students and maintain enthusiasm for Islamic Studies.
  • Monitor individual and class progress through observation, assessment, classroom work, and school-approved evaluation methods.
  • Record student development accurately using Target Tracker and other designated school systems.
  • Interpret assessment results to identify learning gaps, adjust lesson planning, provide additional challenge, and arrange appropriate intervention.
  • Take ownership of the academic progress of assigned students and maintain clear evidence of development over time.
  • Provide parents and carers with constructive information about student achievement, progress, behaviour, and wellbeing during conferences and other meetings.
  • Apply the school 's behaviour expectations consistently while maintaining respectful and positive relationships with students.
  • Establish clear classroom routines that encourage independence, self-control, responsibility, and appropriate conduct.
  • Model the attitudes, professional standards, values, and behaviour expected within the Al Rayana school community.
  • Collaborate with curriculum support colleagues when additional learning or developmental assistance is required.
  • Where student needs require specialist support, the teacher may coordinate with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and other professionals to help maintain an effective learning pathway.
  • Embed Al Rayana 's Teacher and Learner DNA principles throughout classroom practice and interactions with students.
  • Participate in curriculum action groups and contribute to subject planning, assessment development, educational resources, and special activities.
  • Support school events, educational visits, celebrations, and community activities, including occasional commitments outside normal school hours.
  • Use CPOMS and relevant school processes appropriately when recording or communicating information connected with student welfare, safeguarding, achievement, or wellbeing.
  • Lead a weekly extracurricular activity during each term and contribute actively to the broader school experience.
