Job summary

Dautom is recruiting a System Engineer for a 2‑year extendable contract in Sharjah, UAE, serving a government entity. The role centers on administering Windows Server infrastructure, AD, DNS, DHCP, Hyper‑V, VMware, RDS, IIS, and backup/DR operations.

Strong patching, configuration management, and documentation practices are required. Responsibilities include user management, server upgrades, technical support, and involvement in procurement and future upgrades.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in System Administration or Computer Engineering (mandatory).
• Minimum 5 years of relevant systems administration experience.
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V/VMware, RDS, IIS, and backup/restore processes.
• Willingness to work shifts / on-call when required.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and update professional software, and arrange its provision through procurement procedures.
• Perform backups and apply OS updates, patches and configuration changes per procedures.
• Add, remove, disable and update user accounts, reset passwords, and perform account management tasks.
• Update and administer electronic signature data.
• Administer Windows Server OS, including server upgrades, troubleshooting, and core services (AD, Exchange).
• Provide technical support to staff on faults related to professional software.
• Prepare and follow up purchase requests to update, renew and develop software and services, and evaluate offers.
• Contribute to planning future upgrades of devices and servers.
• Run backup, restore and disaster recovery operations; maintain system docs and reports.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the direct manager.

Role Summary

Administers Windows server and virtualisation environment, including Active Directory, Hyper‑V, VMware, RDS, IIS and print services, and owns backup, restore and disaster recovery operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and update professional software, and arrange its provision through procurement procedures.
• Perform backups and apply operating system updates, patches and configuration changes in line with approved procedures.
• Add, remove, disable and update user accounts, reset passwords and carry out other account management tasks.
• Update and administer electronic signature data.
• Administer Windows Server operating systems, including installing and upgrading servers, troubleshooting, and managing core systems such as Active Directory and Exchange Server.
• Provide technical support to staff on faults related to professional software.
• Prepare and follow up purchase requests to update, renew and develop software and services, and take part in technical evaluation of offers.
• Contribute to planning future upgrades of devices and servers.
• Run backup, restore and disaster recovery operations; maintain system documentation, configuration records and reports.
• Perform any other related tasks assigned by the direct manager.

• Willingness to work shifts / on‑call when required

Preferred / Advantage

• Certifications, e.g. Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, VMware VCP‑DCV, Veeam VMCE
• Experience in a UAE government or large enterprise environment
