Job summary

AECOM Middle East Ltd invites a Surveyor - Civil to join our Abu Dhabi team. You will ensure civil works are positioned correctly, aligned, and leveled according to drawings and design data, supporting earthworks, structures, drainage, and infrastructure alignments.

You will establish and maintain survey control, perform topographic and quantity surveys, and verify contractor outputs before proceeding. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and field instruments is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 to 8 years of construction or site surveying experience.
• Proficiency with total stations, GNSS-GPS equipment, levels, and other surveying instruments.
• Practical capability with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Middle East or UAE experience is highly advantageous.
• Rail or major infrastructure project experience is preferable.
• Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain survey control points, benchmarks, and reference grids across project sites and alignments.
• Set out alignments, levels, gridlines, and reference points using approved drawings and design data.
• Provide setting-out support for earthworks, structures, drainage, depot works, online buildings, and associated civil construction.
• Conduct topographic, cross-section, volume, and quantity surveys to support construction planning and progress measurement.
• Verify the setting-out completed by contractor survey teams before construction proceeds on key elements.
• Conduct as-built surveys to confirm completed construction against approved designs and specified tolerances.
• Prepare as-built drawings, survey records, and supporting documentation for QA-QC verification and project handover.
• Perform monitoring surveys for settlement, deformation, alignment, and other movement affecting structures, earthworks, and track-related works.
• Identify survey discrepancies and support their investigation and resolution before they affect subsequent construction activities.
• Process and manage field survey information using AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent survey and CAD software.
• Maintain accurate coordinate registers, field books, calculation sheets, instrument logs, and supporting survey records.
• Prepare survey reports and progress or quantity records for project management, QA-QC, and commercial teams.
• Maintain traceable survey information throughout construction and handover activities.
• Coordinate daily surveying requirements with site engineers, QA-QC teams, and contractor survey personnel.
• Ensure surveying activities comply with project specifications, approved coordinate systems, datums, and applicable standards.
• Maintain survey instruments and equipment in appropriate working condition and ensure required calibration is kept current.
• Promptly report instrument defects, calibration concerns, and other issues that could affect survey accuracy.
• Assist in resolving survey-related technical queries, discrepancies, and non-conformances.
