Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; field related to business/management.
• Minimum 3 years in healthcare setting or pharmacy procurement.
• Experience with JCIA standards and drug-use control functions.

Responsibilities

• Maintains confidentiality and objectivity per ethics of the profession.
• Reviews and checks for accuracy, specification, and need and processes all approved orders and requisitions.
• Verifies all packing slips against purchase orders and forwards to accounts payable.
• Reviews all month-end data to ensure accuracy and forwards to the Pharmacy director for review.
• Maintains effective and timely communication with departmental and other hospital staff; supports Pharmacy needs.
• Interfaces directly with accounts payable for price discrepancies between PO and invoice.
• Ensures effective stock control, inventory computations, discrepancies, and preventive measures.
• Monitors inventory levels, min-max, stock-outs and expedited shipments.
• Reports major price discrepancies to the Director of Pharmacy.
• Coordinates product returns with vendors and the medication handler.
• Assists the Director of Pharmacy with market trend studies and cost analysis.
• Prepares and submits reports to the Director of Pharmacy as needed.
• Assists with solicitation of bids, data review and negotiations.
• Interfaces with the Director of Pharmacy about procurement to establish specs and needs.
• Communicates with the Director of Pharmacy for requisitions and orders in progress.
• Maintains appropriate records and documentation of activities.
• Performs all duties professionally, effectively and confidentially.
• Oversees storage and distribution by accurate order picking, packing and dispatch; ensures good storage practices.
• Performs all other duties required or assigned.
• Identifies root causes of product supply issues and plans corrective/preventive actions.
