Job summary

Middle East Factory LLC in Dubai is seeking an experienced Steel Structural Design Engineer to join our team. You will perform structural analysis and design of steel structures in line with international codes and project specs, delivering calculations and technical submissions.

You will carry out steel connection design using IDEA StatiCa, coordinate with drafting, fabrication and project teams, and liaise with authorities to obtain design approvals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering.
• Extensive experience in steel structure analysis and design.
• Knowledge of ASCE 7, AISC 360, BS EN (Eurocodes), DM Codes, IBC/UBC.
• Experience coordinating with authorities and obtaining approvals.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Steel Structural Design Engineer to join our team in Dubai.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform structural analysis and design of steel structures in accordance with applicable international codes and project specifications.
• Prepare structural calculations, design reports, and technical submissions.
• Carry out steel connection design using IDEA StatiCa.
• Coordinate with drafting, fabrication, and project teams to ensure design requirements are met.
• Liaise with relevant authorities and attend technical meetings to obtain necessary design approvals.
• Should have or be ready to obtain SOE Card & Dubai Municipality G+1 Steel Contracting License.
• Review fabrication drawings and provide technical support to resolve fabrication and site-related design issues.
• Perform manual calculations and independent verification of connection forces, bolt capacities, weld strengths, plate bending, block shear, and other applicable limit states.
• Design anchor bolt systems, including cast-in anchors and post-installed mechanical or chemical anchors, considering tension, shear, combined loading, concrete breakout, pullout, pry out, and edge-distance effects.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering.
• Strong experience in steel structure analysis and design.
• Very good knowledge of the following design codes and standards:
  • ASCE 7
  • AISC 360
  • BS EN (Eurocodes)
  • Dubai Municipality (DM) Codes and Regulations
  • IBC and UBC
• Sound technical knowledge of steel fabrication processes, detailing, and construction practices.
• Experience in coordinating with authorities and obtaining design approvals.
• Good communication, coordination, and technical reporting skills.
