Job summary

REMAYA is seeking an experienced Senior Specialist, Range Controller to serve as the central hub in the Xrange Control Room in Abu Dhabi. You will oversee range operations, ensure safe, compliant execution of air, land, and sea activities, and coordinate with MOD, UAE Armed Forces, regulators, and clients.

You will monitor operations, support decision-making, deconflict activities, manage emergency response, and contribute to continuous improvement of control room procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or UAE military education is required.
• 7+ years of experience in UAE Armed Forces, MOD, aviation operations, control rooms, range operations, or similar environments.
• Strong command and control, operational coordination, safety requirements, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and operational activities simultaneously.
• Arabic and English fluency in verbal and written communication.
• Strong leadership, communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to operate radio communication systems and multiple channels while maintaining situational awareness.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the Xrange Control Room as the central hub for operational coordination.
• Monitor and coordinate runway, taxiway, apron, airfield, and range activity status.
• Manage aircraft parking, towing operations, runway access, inspections, and FOD control activities.
• Monitor ground handling operations, vehicle movements, closures, safety compliance, and weather conditions.
• Coordinate operational training events, testing activities, and stakeholder communications.
• Identify and respond to operational disruptions, ensuring timely communication and resolution.
• Serve as the primary point of contact during emergencies and coordinate response activities for safety, medical, security, and fire incidents.
• Support incident reporting, Hot-Wash-Ups (HWU), After-Action Reviews (AAR), and emergency response procedure development.
• Coordinate and deconflict all range activities to ensure safe and effective operations.
• Manage activation and access control of land, sea, and air danger areas.
• Coordinate NOTAM requests, MOD approvals, and operational activities with military and regulatory authorities.
• Support client requirements, operational meetings, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate range operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution of air, land, and sea activities. The role is responsible for operational monitoring, emergency response coordination, stakeholder engagement, danger area management, and liaison with MOD, UAE Armed Forces, regulatory authorities, and range clients. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the Senior Specialist will maintain situational awareness across all operational activities, support critical decision-making, manage operational deconfliction, and contribute to the continuous improvement of control room operations and procedures.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or recognised UAE military education.
• Minimum 7 years of experience within UAE Armed Forces, MOD, aviation operations, control rooms, operational centres, range operations, or similar environments.
• Strong understanding of command and control principles, operational coordination, safety requirements, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and operational activities simultaneously.
• Arabic speaker with excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to operate radio communication systems and multiple communication channels while maintaining situational awareness.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure and during emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within operational control rooms, aviation operations centres, military training environments, or defence-related operations.
• Knowledge of military, range, aviation, maritime, or unmanned systems operations.
• Understanding of risk management, explosive safety principles, weapons systems, and danger area management.
• Knowledge of NOTAM processes and coordination requirements.
• Experience developing and improving standard operating procedures (SOPs).
