Overview

Job Description PURPOSE & SCOPE: Job holder at this level lead teams involved with the development of discipline-specific engineering drawing. They will be designated as Designers for critical drawings. They will assume responsibilities as Team Leaders for the medium type and larger type projects/Enquiries.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and participates in discipline-specific drafting activities carried out by Level 1, 2 & 3 staff, ensuring that work assignments are completed on time and to set standards.
• Studies and understands the scope of work and specifications for each project. Prepares basic drawings and allocates them to team members for the work of preparing detailed engineering drawings.
• Acts as the ultimate checker for all drawings produced by Draftsmen and Designers to ensure compliance with brief, consistency and quality of work.
• Prepares the Bill of Materials for the entire project/Enquiry, ensuring accuracy and comprehensiveness of information.
• Provides input for the resolution of engineering queries from clients or third parties.
• Undertakes interdisciplinary coordination and perform IDC to ensure integration of project Drafting & modelling activities.
• Works in close conjunction with discipline engineer to ensure speedy resolution of any problems that might arise and that the project schedule is adhered to.
• Resolves yard queries (within level of capability) that might arise during construction phase to ensure work being carried conforms with the drawings.
• Undertakes pre-engineering site surveys in order to confirm the correctness of handover documents and suitability of allocated site for project implementation.
• Design / Prepare Cable block diagram, Single line diagram, Interconnection diagram & Equipment layout.
• Perform Lighting level calculation.
• Guide Designers/ Draftsmen in 3D modelling activities.
• Participate in 3D model review.
• Interact with overseas Engineering offices (NEL & ANEWA).
• Ensure all the Electronic files are proper.

Minimum Requirements

• Technical Diploma in Engineering, or equivalent.
• 12 years drafting experience, with a minimum of 2 years at Level 3.
• Supervisory experience and team-leader qualities.
• Good interdisciplinary knowledge.
• Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
• Experienced and competent in AUTOCAD/ Microstation.
• Experience in 3D modelling activities.
• Experience in Lighting level calculation.
• Awareness in Electrical/ Instrumentation softwares such as AVEVA EL, AVEVA IN, SPI, SPEL etc.
• Rigorous checker.
