Role Context The Specialist Gastroenterologist will provide comprehensive outpatient care for patients with gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, inflammatory, functional, and chronic digestive conditions. The position is designed for a physician who can combine strong clinical judgment with long-term patient relationship building and who is comfortable developing a sustainable specialist practice within a multidisciplinary healthcare network. Working within Dubai Festival City, the role benefits from an established community patient base and consistent referral pathways from primary care and specialist colleagues. The physician will have the opportunity to manage both routine and complex cases while supporting preventive Gastroenterology, ongoing disease management, and appropriate diagnostic procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist consultations for patients presenting with gastrointestinal and digestive health conditions.
• Diagnose and manage common and complex disorders affecting the gastrointestinal tract.
• Evaluate patients with reflux disease, abdominal pain, altered bowel habits, functional bowel disorders, and other upper and lower gastrointestinal symptoms.
• Manage patients with inflammatory bowel disease through appropriate investigation, treatment, monitoring, and long-term follow-up.
• Assess and manage liver disease and related hepatobiliary conditions within the scope of specialist outpatient practice.
• Provide ongoing care for patients requiring chronic digestive disease management.
• Perform appropriate Gastroenterology procedures and diagnostic interventions in accordance with clinical privileges and facility protocols.
• Review laboratory investigations, imaging, endoscopic findings, and other diagnostic information to formulate evidence-based treatment plans.
• Develop individualized management strategies based on clinical findings, patient history, risk factors, and treatment response.
• Support preventive Gastroenterology through screening, early detection, risk assessment, and patient education.
• Maintain continuity of care for patients requiring repeated consultations, treatment adjustments, or long-term monitoring.
• Work closely with Family Medicine, General Practice, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, General Surgery, and other specialties to coordinate referrals and multidisciplinary care.
• Build strong referral relationships across the wider healthcare network while maintaining appropriate communication with referring physicians.
• Educate patients regarding digestive health, medication use, lifestyle changes, dietary considerations, disease prevention, and follow-up requirements.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, consultation records, procedural notes, treatment plans, and electronic medical records.
• Follow DHA requirements, clinical governance standards, infection prevention procedures, patient safety protocols, and professional ethics.
• Monitor clinical outcomes and participate in quality improvement activities relevant to Gastroenterology services.
• Contribute to the development and growth of Gastroenterology services by maintaining high standards of patient engagement, clinical quality, and continuity.
• Stay current with developments in Gastroenterology, hepatology, diagnostic procedures, and evidence-based treatment guidelines.

Ideal Profile

• Medical degree from a recognized institution with specialist qualification in Gastroenterology.
• Valid UAE Specialist Gastroenterologist license issued by DHA, DOH, or MOH.
• Minimum 5 years of post-specialist Gastroenterology experience.
• Previous clinical experience within the United Arab Emirates.
• Strong background in outpatient Gastroenterology.
• Practical experience performing Gastroenterology procedures appropriate to specialist practice.
• Proven capability in diagnosing and managing gastrointestinal disorders, liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, reflux conditions, and functional bowel disorders.
• Comfortable managing chronic digestive conditions and maintaining long-term follow-up pathways.
