ADNOC Group is seeking a Specialist - Economic Modeling and Analysis for a Full Time, on-site role in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The position develops and maintains fit-for-purpose economic and Linear Programming models supporting refinery production optimization, feedstock procurement, product and intermediate sales, and commercial decision-making. The role will analyze actual refinery performance, evaluate margin opportunities, maintain models against current operating conditions and provide timely economic insights to refinery and commercial teams.

Economic Models and Optimization
- Maintain economic and Linear Programming models that accurately represent current refinery operating conditions and business requirements.
- Coordinate within the SCMD team to ensure operating constraints are accurately represented in LP models.
- Enhance LP and other economic models to maintain their fitness for business purposes.
- Keep business constraints and pricing information current to support accurate modeling results.
- Develop new economic models when required by changing business needs.
- Build models for evaluating purchases and sales of intermediate streams and products.
- Coordinate with refinery teams to obtain actual yield patterns, material balances and process constraints.
- Maintain Economics and Planning models using current plant operating information.
Economic Evaluations
- Perform economic evaluations of crude, condensate and other feedstocks to support procurement decisions.
- Evaluate feedstock purchases and product or intermediate sales.
- Conduct economic assessments for other business cases as required.
- Provide timely economic evaluation support to commercial operations.
- Prepare supporting documentation for commercial transactions.
- Develop presentations for OC and OSC to support commercial decision-making when required.
- Maintain auditable records of decisions supported by economic evaluations.
- Maintain an organized database of economic evaluation records.
Refinery Performance and Margin Analysis
- Track, monitor and analyze refinery performance using real-time and historical operating data.
- Identify suboptimal operations and potential margin improvement opportunities and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Develop daily and weekly margin reports.
- Prepare monthly gross margin reports and retrospective analysis of planned versus actual performance.
- Support the Senior Specialist, Economic Model in preparing monthly variance analysis of actual refinery performance.
- Analyze deviations including yield patterns and quality giveaway.
- Identify performance improvement opportunities and support their implementation.
- Monitor product quality KPIs, unit yield patterns and component quality deviations and recommend measures to reduce identified gaps.
- Track margin losses resulting from planned and unplanned shutdowns and process limitations.
- Coordinate with site teams to obtain actual unit yield patterns and hydrogen balances.
- Monitor implementation of production plans and raise concerns regarding deviations.
- Review and revise unit capacities and operating parameters in line with relevant economic indicators when required.
Economics Support to Site Teams
- Oversee the Profit Improvement Plan program at sites and maintain the associated tracker.
- Support effective management and follow-up of Profit Improvement Plan activities.
- Perform economic analysis of process constraints in consultation with the Senior Specialist, Economic Model.
- Support scenario analysis for planned and unplanned shutdowns, slowdowns and process constraints.
- Assess the potential production and margin impact of different operating scenarios.
- Promote awareness of crude and product markets and process unit economics among refinery managers and operations teams.
- Prepare weekly economics presentations for refinery management.
Supervision and Staff Development Plan
supervise and coordinate activities within the assigned area to achieve functional objectives. Train and develop assigned personnel in relevant skills to strengthen job proficiency and support achievement of section objectives.
Budget and Performance Support
- Provide input for preparation of Department and Section budgets.
- Assist with implementation of approved budgets and work plans.
- Investigate and highlight significant variances to support performance and cost control.
- Contribute to achievement of approved Department and Section performance objectives in accordance with the Company performance framework.
Policies and Continuous Improvement
- Implement approved policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures.
- Ensure work programs align with Company and international standards.
- Comply with applicable legislation and legal requirements.
- Design and implement tools and techniques that improve operational quality and efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to improve internal processes against recognized best practices.
- Support efficiency improvements in line with applicable ISO standards.
HSE and Reporting
- Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures and controls.
- Follow applicable legislation, sustainability guidelines, international standards, best practices and ADNOC Codes of Practice.
- Provide inputs for Section MIS and progress reports required by Company Management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor 's Degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Economics, or equivalent.
- An additional business qualification is an advantage.
- 8 years of experience in economic model building and interpretation, preferably within oil, gas, or petrochemical plants.
- Experience with Linear Programming planning models for refineries.
- Experience constructing economic and financial spreadsheet models.
- Experience with optimization modeling using spreadsheets and-or Linear Programming models.
- Knowledge of business analysis.
- Knowledge of the Oil and Gas industry.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in written and verbal English.
- Knowledge of Arabic is preferred.
