Role Context

The Senior Reservoir Engineer will provide technical oversight of field development planning and reservoir engineering studies across ADNOC and its Group Companies. The position is responsible for verifying the quality, rigor, and reliability of static and dynamic reservoir models used to support development decisions, reserves evaluation, production optimization, and long-term reservoir management. Working with multidisciplinary subsurface teams, consultants, service providers, and operating companies, the role helps ensure that reservoir studies follow ADNOC technical standards while incorporating appropriate simulation technologies, analytical methods, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review field development plans and reservoir studies to confirm technical quality, consistency, and compliance with ADNOC standards and guidelines.
  • Assess static and dynamic reservoir models used for field development planning and reservoir optimization.
  • Monitor reservoir engineering studies and identify technical gaps, uncertainties, or opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive consistent implementation of ADNOC reservoir engineering standards, guidelines, and recognized best practices across Group Companies.
  • Support operating companies in improving the efficiency and technical value of reservoir studies and field development activities.
  • Participate in testing and technical evaluation of commercial reservoir simulators, analytical tools, and supporting software.
  • Assess reservoir pre-processors, post-processors, simulation applications, and analytical platforms against ADNOC technical requirements.
  • Recommend reservoir engineering software and tools that provide suitable technical capability and cost effectiveness.
  • Provide hands‑on technical support for reservoir modeling, simulation, reservoir studies, and field development projects.
  • Review reservoir study reports and recommend technical actions to improve field development plans and reservoir performance.
  • Advise on data gathering programs required to reduce reservoir uncertainty and strengthen development decisions.
  • Verify implementation of ADNOC reservoir management guidelines across relevant technical studies and operating assets.
  • Represent ADNOC in technical discussions with Group Companies, stakeholders, consultants, service companies, and technology providers.
  • Provide technical advice on reservoir simulation, modeling workflows, reservoir technology, research activities, and hydrocarbon reserves.
  • Advise on current and future reservoir modeling strategies and reservoir management priorities.
  • Identify advanced reservoir technologies with potential application across Abu Dhabi oil and gas reservoirs.
  • Recommend research and development initiatives that could improve reservoir characterization, simulation accuracy, recovery performance, or development efficiency.
  • Maintain close coordination with geoscience, petroleum engineering, production, drilling, facilities, and other subsurface disciplines.
  • Promote fully integrated multidisciplinary approaches across reservoir engineering studies and field development activities.
  • Participate in development of technical competency standards for reservoir engineering specialists.
  • Support technical career development, competency frameworks, training requirements, and resource allocation strategies for upstream specialists.
  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate assigned technical activities to achieve section and department objectives.
  • Train and develop assigned personnel in reservoir engineering, simulation, and field development practices.
  • Provide technical input for unit, department, or section budget preparation.
  • Support implementation of approved budgets and work plans and investigate significant cost or performance variances.
  • Implement approved technical policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures.
  • Contribute to agreed performance objectives in accordance with ADNOC performance management requirements.
  • Develop tools and technical approaches that improve the quality, reliability, and efficiency of reservoir engineering processes.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement by comparing internal practices with recognized industry standards.
  • Comply with applicable HSE policies, procedures, legislation, sustainability guidelines, and ADNOC Codes of Practice.
