Job summary

ADNOC Drilling in Abu Dhabi invites experienced engineers to lead drilling and workover campaigns, setting scope and cost controls for lump sum turnkey projects. You will supervise integrated PM teams, approve drilling programs and AFEs, and develop field development plans while ensuring HSE and compliance with ADNOC standards.

This demanding role requires offshore and onshore expertise and proficiency with drilling software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 8+ years related experience in Drilling/Workover Engineering and Operations.
  • Experience with OPCOs, UAE preferred.
  • Experience with rig offshore and office environments.
  • Experience in drilling technologies (UBD, MPD, CTD, ERD).
  • Proficient in drilling software; Landmark preferred.
  • Experience in Wells and Drilling Operations business planning.
  • Proven track of leading drilling teams.

Responsibilities

  • Set and manage Lump sum turnkey campaign scope of work with all related activities and manage unconventional drilling and testing activities (UBD, MLT, and multi stage frac).
  • Lead and direct the Drilling Integrated Project Management teams of the assigned service companies to execute ADNOC Exploration Biogenic Gas wells in line with the plans.
  • Endorse and approve Drilling programs and AFE for the subjected wells.
  • Define the Full Field Development Plans and explore requirements with Petroleum, Reservoir, and Petrophysics.
  • Advise Exploration on drilling planning, prognosis, and technical requirements.
  • Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet objectives.
  • Provide input for budgets and monitor variances to support cost control.
  • Implement policies, processes, and procedures to support work programs.
  • Contribute to achieving performance objectives within the company framework.
  • Design and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE policies and ADNOC standards.
  • Provide MIS and progress reports for management.
  • Maintain daily contacts with Exploration, Drilling, JV/OPCOs, and external service providers.

Job Purpose

Set and manage Lump sum turnkey campaign Scope of Work with all related activities and manage unconventional drilling and testing activities (UBD, MLT, and multi stage frac.) Manage project cost control and rig schedule.

Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 1)
  • Report and update with the Drilling and well operations activities related to the Biogenic Shallow Gas project to ensure conformity with plan and program.
  • Lead and direct the Drilling Integrated Project Management teams of the assigned service companies to execute ADNOC Exploration Biogenic Gas wells in line with the plans.
  • Endorse and approve the Drilling programs, well plans provided by the LSTK/IPM teams and endorse and approve the AFE for the subjected wells.
  • Define the Full Field Development Plans and the exploration requirements through working closely with the Petroleum Engineers, Reservoir Engineers and Petrophysicists.
  • Advises as necessary the Exploration Function in all drilling related matters in terms of planning, well prognosis and technical requirements.

  • Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.
Reports
  • Provide inputs to prepare MIS and progress reports for Company Management.

Internal Communications & Working Relationships
  • Daily contacts with members in Exploration and Drilling
  • Frequent Contacts with other upstream Divisions in respect to drilling operations.
  • Frequent contacts with JVs, OPCOs, ADNOC Drilling and SPC’s drilling staff to discuss the daily operations.
  • Frequent contacts with drilling service providers and rig equipment manufacturers
External Communications & Working Relationships

Regular contact with external drilling service providers

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum /Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills
  • Minimum 8 years related experience in Drilling / Workover Engineering and Operations.
  • Previous experience with the OPCOs, preferred in UAE.
  • Experience preferably both from rig activities both from offshore and from the office.
  • Experience in Drilling new technologies (UBD, MPD,CTD , and ERD)
  • Professional user of any drilling software, Landmark package is preferred.
  • Experience in business planning (Wells and Drilling Operations).
  • Proven track of leading drilling teams either operations or engineering
