Role Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented QA Engineer with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in manual testing of web and mobile applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding business requirements, developing comprehensive test scenarios and test cases, identifying defects, and providing clear reports on application quality and release readiness.

This role requires strong analytical skills and close coordination with developers, business stakeholders, and back-office teams to ensure applications support business processes and deliver a reliable user experience.

Key Responsibilities

Test Planning and Test Case Design

• Review business requirements, user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria to identify testing needs, gaps, and ambiguities.
• Create and maintain detailed test scenarios, test cases, test checklists, and test data covering positive, negative, boundary, and exception conditions.
• Define test scope, priorities, effort estimates, and execution schedules based on business impact and release timelines.
• Maintain traceability between requirements and test cases to ensure adequate test coverage.
• Update regression test suites as application features and business workflows evolve.

Web and Mobile Application Testing

• Perform manual functional, integration, system, smoke, sanity, and exploratory testing.
• Validate web applications across supported browsers, screen sizes, and operating systems.
• Test mobile applications on Android and iOS devices, covering supported device configurations and operating system versions.
• Validate mobile-specific scenarios such as app installation and upgrades, permissions, network interruptions, background and foreground transitions, and notifications, where applicable.
• Verify user interfaces, navigation, input validation, error handling, and consistency against approved requirements and designs.
• Test end-to-end workflows across customer-facing applications and back-office systems.
• Verify role-based access, business rules, data accuracy, and consistency across connected systems.

Defect Management

• Identify, document, and track defects Azure DevOps, or an equivalent platform.
• Write clear defect reports with reproduction steps, expected and actual results, environment details, and supporting screenshots, videos, or logs.
• Assess defect severity and work with stakeholders to determine priority based on business and user impact.
• Coordinate with developers to reproduce issues, clarify expected behavior, and support investigation.
• Retest fixes and perform relevant regression testing to identify unintended impacts.
• Participate in defect triage discussions and track issues through resolution and closure.

Test Reporting and Release Support

• Prepare test execution reports summarizing coverage, results, open defects, blockers, and outstanding risks.
• Communicate testing progress and quality concerns clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide evidence-based recommendations on release readiness, highlighting unresolved issues and their potential impact.
• Maintain organized test documentation and evidence to support release reviews and future testing.
• Perform post-release smoke testing and assist with the validation of production issues and fixes.

Coordination and Business Process Validation

• Work closely with back-office and operations teams to understand daily workflows, operational dependencies, and business exceptions.
• Translate operational scenarios and reported issues into practical test cases.
• Coordinate with developers, business analysts, and product owners to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by preparing scenarios and test data, assisting business users, and tracking reported issues.
• Validate relevant back-office functions, such as approvals, record updates, transaction processing, and reporting, based on the application's scope.
• Follow up on dependencies and blockers to keep testing activities aligned with delivery timelines.

Quality Improvement

• Identify recurring defects, gaps in test coverage, and opportunities to improve testing processes.
• Contribute to root-cause discussions and recommend preventive actions.
• Maintain reusable test assets and share application knowledge with the team.
• Identify repetitive, stable test scenarios that could benefit from future automation.

Required Experience and Skills

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance, with a strong focus on manual testing.
• Demonstrated experience testing both web and mobile applications.
• Strong ability to develop comprehensive test scenarios and test cases from business requirements and user workflows.
• Sound understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), and defect life cycle.
• Practical experience in functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and end-to-end testing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate issues and assess business impact.
• Experience using test management and defect tracking tools.
• Strong test reporting and documentation skills, with the ability to communicate clear, actionable findings.
• Experience working directly with developers and back-office or operations teams.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail, and take ownership of testing activities.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with API testing using tools such as Postman.
• Basic SQL knowledge for validating application data and investigating discrepancies.
• Familiarity with browser developer tools, application logs, and network request inspection.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Exposure to accessibility, usability, and performance testing concepts.
• Familiarity with test automation concepts or tools.
• ISTQB certification or an equivalent software testing qualification.
