Job summary

Salt Digital Recruitment is seeking a Software Development Engineer III to design and build scalable backend services and APIs. You will own technical solutions and collaborate across teams to deliver high-impact systems powering core product experiences.

You will design and maintain services using Ruby, Java, or Go, build robust tests, and integrate CI/CD with quality gates. Experience with distributed systems and dashboards is preferred.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Ruby, Java, or Go.
• Experience with distributed systems, REST/GraphQL APIs.
• Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases.

About the Role

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer III to design and build scalable backend services and APIs. You will work on high-impact systems that power core product experiences. This role requires strong ownership of technical solutions, hands‑on coding, and collaboration across teams.

What You Will Do

1. Backend Engineering
   • Design, develop, and maintain services using Ruby, Java, and Go.
   • Architect scalable, reliable, and secure microservices and APIs.
   • Implement event-driven systems and asynchronous processing pipelines.
   • Optimize system performance, resilience, and availability.
2. Collaboration & Delivery
   • Partner with mobile/web engineers to deliver seamless end-to-end experiences.
   • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure reliability and observability.
   • Participate in sprint planning, system design, and code reviews.
3. Quality & Best Practices
   • Build unit, integration, and performance tests for services.
   • Ensure CI/CD pipelines are integrated with automated quality gates.
   • Drive technical excellence through design reviews and documentation.

What You Will Need

• 4-6 years of backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Ruby, Java, or Go.
• Experience with distributed systems, REST/GraphQL APIs, and event queues.
• Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

Nice to Have

• Experience in fintech, payments, or transaction-heavy systems.
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
