Boundless, a regulated fintech group, is modernizing its global trading platforms across crypto spot and CFDs. We are building high-throughput, low-latency backend systems to power millions of trades daily.

The Senior Backend Engineer will design, optimize, and scale infrastructure with Java, Spring Boot, and distributed architectures, collaborating with frontend and product teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in Java backend development.
• Strong command of Spring Boot and the broader Spring ecosystem.
• Experience building and deploying microservices and distributed systems.
• Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Practical experience with message queues or event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized environments.
• Background in fintech, trading, or high-volume transactional systems is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to design performant, resilient backend solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend microservices supporting trading, account management, and core platform features.
• Build RESTful and event-driven APIs consumed by web and mobile applications.
• Develop caching strategies and optimize database queries for high-performance execution.
• Work with messaging technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ) to support asynchronous and event-driven workflows.
• Ensure system reliability through monitoring, observability, and incident management practices.
• Collaborate with frontend, mobile, and product teams to define API contracts and solution behaviour.
• Participate in architectural discussions, performance reviews, and code quality improvements.
• Deliver backend systems engineered for scale, low latency, and zero-error transaction processing.
