Job summary

Client of Salt is seeking a Software Development Engineer III to design and build scalable backend services and APIs. You will own technical solutions, contribute hands-on coding, and collaborate across teams to drive high-impact product experiences.

The role emphasizes ownership, collaboration, and adherence to quality practices, with a focus on reliability, observability, and performance across distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Ruby, Java or Go.
• Experience with distributed systems, REST/GraphQL APIs, and event queues.
• Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure).
• Nice to have fintech, payments, or transaction-heavy systems experience.
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).

What You Will Do

1 Backend Engineering

• a Design develop and maintain services using Ruby Java and Go

2 Collaboration amp Delivery

• a Partner with mobile web engineers to deliver seamless end-to-end experiences
• b Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure reliability and observability
• c Participate in sprint planning system design and code reviews

3 Quality amp Best Practices

• a Build unit integration and performance tests for services
• b Ensure CI CD pipelines are integrated with automated quality gates

What You Will Need
