Job summary

ZF Group is seeking an experienced field service engineer to oversee overhaul and maintenance of azimuth and tunnel thrusters at customer sites and in the marine workshop. You will diagnose issues, perform commissioning, and lead small teams where needed.

The role involves travel across the Middle East & Africa, delivering technical support, preparing detailed reports, and ensuring adherence to QHSE standards during on-site and workshop tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 4-5 years of field service, commissioning and maintenance activities.
• At least 3 years of experience in maintenance and overhauling of Azimuth Thrusters and/or Tunnel Thrusters.
• Basic understanding of Ship’s Propulsion controls and its functioning.
• Basic understanding and troubleshooting skills on Hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with QHSE requirements while executing workshop and onboard service activities

Main Role and Responsibilities

• Carrying out overhauling of ZF Thrusters and Gearboxes at customer locations and within the ZF Marine Workshop as required
• Perform Inspection and troubleshooting activities at site locations to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implements corrective actions
• Carry out installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities at customer site locations. Must be capable of working unsupervised and leading small teams
• Deliver field service support across the Middle East & Africa region, including emergency breakdown response and customer technical assistance
• Prepare and submit technical service reports, inspection findings, root cause analyses, and recommendations in accordance with ZF guidelines and Standards
• Maintain compliance with company Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) requirements while executing workshop and onboard service activities

Requirements for the role

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited university or college
• Minimum 4-5 years of field service, commissioning and maintenance activities
• At least 3 years of experience in maintenance and overhauling of Azimuth Thrusters and/or Tunnel Thrusters
• Basic Understanding of Ship’s Propulsion controls and its functioning.
• Basic Understanding and troubleshooting skills on Hydraulic system and its components.
• Knowledge of ISO Quality standards & OHSAS (Health & Safety) practices applicable to the marine industry
• Strong customer-facing, reporting, and technical communication skills.
