Job summary

ZMI Holdings in Abu Dhabi seeks a Diesel Mechanic/Marine Engineer to coordinate and supervise mechanical maintenance for marine engines and systems on assigned vessels. You will ensure PMS/AMOS records, assist with dry-docking planning, and uphold safety and regulatory standards.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in diesel or marine engineering, can read English manuals, and will train junior staff while maintaining accurate technical records and compliance with procedures.

Qualifications

• Diesel engines, compressors, pumps, purifiers, valves and related marine equipment knowledge.
• Ability to read operating and service manuals in English.
• Experience in maintenance, repair and overhaul.
• Basic computer literacy and ability to maintain technical records.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the maintenance of assigned vessels in accordance with mechanical standards, manufacturer requirements, and planned maintenance procedures.
• Perform major and specialized overhauls and repairs on marine engines, compressors, pumps, valves, purifiers, winches, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair marine machinery, equipment, and mechanical systems.
• Maintain and update preventive maintenance programs and ensure accurate PMS and AMOS records.
• Support Chief Engineers, Engineers, and vessel teams with mechanical maintenance and repair requirements.
• Determine required parts, materials, and supplies for maintenance and repair activities.
• Support vessel dry-docking activities, including planning, maintenance, repairs, and timely ordering of spares.
• Conduct machinery inspections and ensure planned maintenance activities are completed as scheduled.
• Supervise and provide on-the-job training to junior and workshop personnel.
• Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and SHEQ standards.
• Enforce safe working practices, including lock-out systems, isolation requirements, toolbox talks, permits-to-work, and appropriate PPE.
• Coordinate with the SHEQ Department regarding hazards, risk assessments, control measures, and mechanical non-conformances.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Workshop Supervisor or Technical Manager.
