Job summary

Parsons is seeking a Senior Wet Utilities Design Engineer in Dubai, UAE. You will determine methods and solutions for complex water/wastewater projects, apply advanced engineering techniques, and contribute as a technical consultant to management or clients.

You will use CAD/3D tools (Bentley, Civil 3D, GIS) and prepare design reports, specs, and maintenance plans. Willingness to travel or relocate to sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and 8-12 years of related design experience in water/wastewater/wet utilities.
• Master's degree would be preferred.
• Potential to perform in a lead capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and familiarity with industry practices and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and supervise work on major engineering projects requiring substantial manpower and budget.
• Lead engineers and design personnel to promote technical excellence and growth.
• Provide technical consultations for interdisciplinary analyses and studies.
• Provide input to CAD Designers/Drafters; perform CAD tasks using 3D software and model creation.
• Ensure design compliance with codes/regulations; sign off as professional engineer where required.
• Prepare material/equipment specs and purchase requisitions; review supplier data and witness shop tests.
• Develop operation and maintenance plans; create SOPs and O&M manuals; conduct onsite training.
• Conduct surveys, RAM and safety analyses; stay current with professional societies.
• Liaise with authorities for NOCs and design approvals; coordinate with service providers.

Senior Wet Utilities Design Engineer

UAE, Dubai

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Wet Utilities Design Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to determine methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the objectives. The successful candidate applies advanced engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline and may serve as a technical consultant in area of specialty for management or the client. Some assignments may involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/ CAD (computer aided design) / GIS (Geographic Information System) applications. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected.

What You'll Be Doing

• May plan, direct, and supervise the work of a major engineering unit or project requiring a largescale expenditure of manpower and financial investment.
• Leads other Engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and growth in the Quality Improvement Process.
• Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
• Provides input to CAD Designer/Drafters working on the same project. The engineer will be required to carry out CAD related tasks while using special 3D software and model creation.
• Ensures compliance of design with all applicable codes and regulations, providing the seal and signature of the professional engineer when required by statute or contract.
• Prepares material/equipment specifications and purchase requisitions; reviews supplier data; witnesses shop tests, assists with assessing sup plier manufacturing capabilities.
• Develops operation and maintenance plans; develops standard operating procedures; prepares O & M manuals and may conduct onsite training of personnel.
• Conducts surveys, studies, and site investigations. Performs reliability, availability, maintenance (RAM) and safety analyses.
• Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
• The engineer shall be able to independently carry out designs of collection, conveyance, and disposal of pressure networks. The engineer shall have advance experience and knowledge of preparing and developing hydraulic models for pressure network, design reports and conversant with design software like Bentley WaterCAD / WaterGems, Bentley Hammer and WANDA software. Knowledge of latest software like Civil 3D, Dynamo, Python, Open Roads, Open Utilities, GIS is preferred.
• Shall be familiar with load demand calculations for large private developments and/ or large government projects. Shall be conversant with Water / Irrigation / Firefighting Authority regulations such as DEWA, ADDC/ ADWEA, DM, ADM, DCD, ADCD and other relevant authorities within gulf region.
• Working knowledge of planning, designing and construction of water supply systems, including Water treatment, pumping systems, intake structures, etc.,
• Shall have basic experience in creating utility cross sections as per requirements of local authorities in the Gulf region like RTA (Dubai), DMT (Abu Dhabi), MOMRA (KSA), etc.
• Preparation of technical specifications and design reports. Shall be conversant with the British and American codes as well as DEWA / DM regulations for the design of wastewater systems.
• Shall have experience of liaising with service providers agencies for obtaining NOCs and Design Approvals, etc.
• Helps determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule. May assist with other administrative and technical duties.
• Recommends and prepares technical papers.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
