Job summary

STRABAG SE in Dubai is seeking an experienced Procurement Officer to source construction materials, obtain quotations, verify compliance with specifications, and secure best commercial terms for ongoing and upcoming UAE infrastructure projects.

The role requires strong UAE market knowledge, supplier networks, and the ability to verify technical requirements and contract obligations. Collaboration with engineers, QS, and tender teams is essential for project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• 5+ years' procurement experience in UAE construction, particularly infrastructure/road/highway/utility projects.
• Strong knowledge of UAE suppliers, materials markets, and technical specification verification.
• Understanding of construction drawings and project requirements.
• Proficient in Excel, ERP, and procurement software.
• Valid UAE driving license preferred.
• Preferred: procurement experience with asphalt/bituminous products, aggregates, roadmarking/safety products, drainage/utility materials, concrete/precast elements, geotextiles, reinforcement steel, pipes and fittings.
• Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
• Knowledge of UAE market rates and material specifications.
• Supplier/stakeholder management, cost control, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Source and procure construction materials, equipment, and services required for infrastructure and road construction projects.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors across the UAE.
• Verify that proposed materials comply with project specifications, technical requirements, and client standards.
• Coordinate with project teams, engineers, and quantity surveyors to understand procurement requirements.
• Negotiate prices, delivery schedules, and commercial terms to achieve the best value for the company.
• Continuously monitor market prices and maintain up-to-date knowledge of material cost trends and supplier capabilities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and distributers throughout the UAE.
• Issue purchase orders and monitor delivery performance to ensure project requirements are met.
• Identify alternative suppliers and materials to support value engineering and cost.
• Support tendering and estimation teams by providing current market pricing and supplier information.
