Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Telecom Engineer to join our team supporting the design and of a largescale onshore oil and gas project in the Middle East. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the telecommunication engineering sector specifically within the oil and gas industry with a strong background in Detailed Engineering. The Senior Telecom Engineer will be responsible for the design integration and implementation of telecom systems ensuring that communication systems meet the highest standards of performance safety and reliability.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the design and implementation of telecom systems including telecommunications data and voice systems for oil and gas projects (e.g. radio satellite communication and fiber optic networks).
• Oversee detailed engineering for telecom systems including network architecture system integration equipment selection and vendor management.
• Develop design documentation for telecom systems including layout plans specifications and equipment datasheets.
• Perform telecommunication system sizing selection and integration of all related equipment such as communication panels servers antennas and cabling systems.
• Ensure telecom systems comply with local and international standards codes and best practices (e.g. IEC IEEE ITU and relevant oil and gas industry standards).
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (e.g. electrical instrumentation and mechanical) to ensure seamless integration of telecom systems within the overall project design.
• Provide technical support during the installation commissioning and testing of telecom systems ensuring alignment with design specifications and project requirements.
• Participate in site surveys to assess the telecom infrastructure and address any challenges related to the installation and deployment of telecom systems.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure proper mitigation measures are in place for telecom systems to prevent any system failure or safety hazards.
• Monitor quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes related to telecom installations and operations.
• Develop and deliver training for project teams on telecom system operations maintenance procedures and troubleshooting.
• Provide regular technical reports and updates to project management stakeholders and clients on the status and progress of telecom design and installation.
• Assist in the procurement process for telecom equipment and services ensuring specifications meet project requirements and standards.
• Ensure that all telecom systems are designed with reliability scalability and futureproofing in mind optimizing performance and maintaining flexibility for future upgrades.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Telecommunications or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
• Upto1015 years of experience in telecommunication engineering within the oil and gas industry particularly for onshore projects.
• Extensive experience in detailed engineering for telecom systems including system design integration and implementation.
• Proven experience with telecom technologies such as radio communication systems satellite communication fiber optic networks and PAGA (Public Address and General Alarm) systems.
• Strong knowledge of telecom standards and protocols (e.g. ITU IEC IEEE) and their application in oil and gas environments.
• Proficient in telecom system design and simulation software tools as well as AutoCAD for layout design and MS Office for project management.
• Handson experience in site surveys and fieldwork for telecom systems in complex onshore environments.
• Fluent in English both written and spoken; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to guide and mentor junior engineers and project teams.
• Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex telecom issues.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate across various functions and stakeholders.
• Proactive with a focus on safety reliability and project success.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
• Previous experience working in Middle Eastern oil and gas projects is highly desirable.
