OBE SHIPS IS HIRING | SENIOR TECHNICAL MANAGER – DRY BULK FLEET

Location: Dubai, UAE

Employment: Full-Time

OBE SHIPS Management Co. L.L.C. is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Manager to lead its Technical Department and oversee the technical integrity, operational reliability, and performance of its growing dry bulk fleet.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving technical excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimising fleet performance, and providing strategic leadership to support the company's continued growth and fleet development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Technical Department, including technical superintendents and support personnel.
• Oversee fleet maintenance, technical inspections, machinery performance, and defect management.
• Plan and supervise dry dockings, major repairs, special surveys, and technical upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with classification society, flag state, and international maritime requirements.
• Prepare and manage technical budgets, repair expenditure, and maintenance costs.
• Monitor vessel performance, planned maintenance systems, and technical reliability.
• Coordinate with Marine, HSQE, Procurement, and Operations departments.
• Support vessel acquisitions, technical evaluations, and fleet expansion initiatives.
• Oversee technical preparedness for PSC, RightShip, and other external inspections, ensuring timely and effective closure of deficiencies.

Requirements:

• Chief Engineer CoC (Unlimited) or equivalent marine engineering qualification with substantial relevant experience.
• Minimum 10 years of maritime experience, including at least 5 years in shore-based technical management.
• Proven experience managing dry bulk vessels, preferably geared Handysize, Supramax, and Ultramax bulk carriers.
• Proven experience leading a shore-based technical department, managing multiple vessels, and supervising technical superintendents.
• Strong expertise in dry docking, machinery repairs, class surveys, planned maintenance, and technical budget control.
• Sound knowledge of international maritime regulations and technical compliance requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, commercial awareness, and problem-solving skills.
• Based in Dubai, with international travel for vessel attendance.
