Job summary

Mark Williams is recruiting a Technical Accountant to join a leading entity based in Abu Dhabi. You will work in a small team and report to the Finance Director, providing expert technical accounting support and ensuring IFRS compliance across acquisitions, disposals and complex transactions.

You will develop accounting papers, perform research, and collaborate with auditors and stakeholders to implement new IFRS requirements and strengthen reporting processes.

Qualifications

• Worked in a similar role previously.
• Excellent presentation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Understand M&A accounting, financial reporting, consolidation and detailed transactions

Responsibilities

• Provide support on a range of technical accounting engagements, including acquisitions, disposals, restructurings, business combinations and other complex corporate transactions
• Support the preparation and review of financial statements and associated disclosures, ensuring compliance with IFRS and relevant regulatory standards
• Undertake accounting research and evaluate complex technical matters to help develop clear recommendations for senior finance stakeholders
• Develop detailed accounting papers, technical assessments and supporting documentation for review and approval by senior members of the team
• Help the business with new IFRS requirements and contribute to updates and enhancements to accounting policies and procedures
• Identify opportunities to strengthen finance processes, controls and reporting practices across the organisation and its subsidiaries
• Work closely with internal finance stakeholders and external auditors to address technical accounting matters, clarify treatments and resolve reporting queries
• Building financial models and undertaking scenario, sensitivity and impact analysis to assess the financial implications of proposed transactions and business decisions
• Monitor changes to IFRS, regulatory requirements and emerging accounting practices
• Maintain a strong understanding of technical accounting developments
