Job summary

Khatib & Alami International in Abu Dhabi seeks a Senior Site Quantity Surveyor to oversee financial administration of supervision contracts, verify payment applications, and ensure accurate contractor payments per contract measurements.

Responsibilities include client liaison, reviewing claims, BOQ and drawings, and ensuring timely cost reporting, commissioning, and handover with As-Built, O&M manuals, and warranties provided by the contractor. Arabic and English proficiency is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• PMP Certification preferred.
• Chartered Professional Engineer or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of construction supervision services.
• Understanding of international engineering standards and codes.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.

• Discuss and agree rates for new work items not covered in the BOQ.
• Review specs, BOQ and drawings for discrepancies in measurements.
• Review contractor claims and report to PM for approval.
• Monitor contractor’s on-site activities and maintain site diary.
• Develop periodic progress reports with site teams.
• Assist in monthly cost reports and handover documentation.
• Ensure As-Built drawings, O&M manuals and warranty certificates are provided by the contractor.
• Prepare commissioning reports and snag lists during handover and DLP.

Job Summary

The Senior Quantity Surveyor is a senior member of the construction supervision team. S/He is responsible for the financial administration of supervision contracts. The jobholder checks contractors’ payment applications and verifies the amounts claimed by contractors against supplier invoices and measurement records. He provides advice on methods of measurement found in the contract and ensures the contractor is accurately paid for actual work done in accordance with the method of measurement stated in the contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers with managing client relations and expectations, as needed
• Assist the Resident Manager in managing client relations and expectations, responding to client clarifications and reviewing payment certificates of contractors
• Support Project Managers in responding to client clarifications on technical and contractual issues
• Support Associate Project Managers with reviewing, assessing and responding to all claims raised by the contractor regarding scope, schedule and cost changes
• Assist the Planning Engineer and the Project Manager in reviewing the work program and submittals proposed by the contractor
• Read and understand the contents and details of the bill of quantities for each project as well as the preamble to the bill of quantities, and any other documents relating to payments to the contractor
• Discuss and attempt to reach mutual agreement with the contractor on rates for new work items that are not covered in the Bill of Quantities and submit rates to the Project Manager for review
• Review the specifications, Bill of Quantities and drawings and advise the Project Manager of any differences and/or discrepancies in Contract documents for methods of measurements, at the beginning of every project
• Review claims submitted by the Contractor and submit a
• report to the Project Manager for approval
• Review quantities executed by contractors against drawings, measurement sheets and invoices for discrepancies and differences
• Monitor contractor’s work on site and in maintaining daily site diary
• Monitor the contractor’s daily activities and resources allocation against plan
• Develop periodic project progress reports in coordination with the Associate Project Manager and site teams
• Assist in the preparation of monthly cost reports, as needed
• Ensure that As Built drawings, O&M manuals and warranty certificates are provided accurately by the contractor
• Prepare commissioning reports and snag lists during the Handover and Defects Liability Period
• Implement corporate policies and procedures
