Job summary

The Quantity Surveyor is a core member of the construction supervision team. S/He supports Project Managers with the financial administration of supervision contracts in Abu Dhabi projects, reviewing contractor payments against invoices and measurements.

Responsibilities include reviewing quantities, liaising on client clarifications, and ensuring accurate As Built drawings and handover documents. 5+ years in engineering services with FIDIC exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
• Chartered Professional Engineering certification or equivalent preferred.
• Understanding of international engineering standards and codes.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Good communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure financial administration of supervision contracts is accurate and timely.
• Review contractor payment applications against invoices and measurement records.
• Verify quantities executed against drawings and measurement sheets for discrepancies.
• Support Project Managers in client relations and clarifications on contractual issues.

Job Summary

The Quantity Surveyor is a core member of the construction supervision team. S/He supports Project Managers with the financial administration of supervision contracts. The jobholder checks contractors’ payment applications and verifies the amounts claimed by contractors against supplier invoices and measurement records. He reviews quantities executed by contractors against drawings, measurement sheets and invoices for discrepancies and differences.

Key Responsibilities (Financial)

• Ensure responsibilities are fulfilled with a high quality and in a cost effective manner

Key Responsibilities (Customer Focus)

• Support Project Managers with managing client relations and expectations, as needed
• Assist the Resident Manager in managing client relations and expectations, responding to client clarifications and reviewing payment certificates of contractors
• Support Project Managers in responding to client clarifications on technical and contractual issues
• Support Associate Project Managers with reviewing, assessing and responding to all claims raised by the contractor regarding scope, schedule and cost changes

Key Responsibilities (Internal Business Process)

• Assist the Planning Engineer and the Project Manager in reviewing the work program and submittals proposed by the contractor
• Read and understand the contents and details of the bill of quantities for each project as well as the preamble to the bill of quantities, and any other documents relating to payments to the contractor
• Discuss and attempt to reach mutual agreement with the contractor on rates for new work items that are not covered in the Bill of Quantities and submit rates to the Project Manager for reviewReview the specifications, Bill of Quantities and drawings and advise the Project Manager of any differences and/or discrepancies in Contract documents for methods of measurements, at the beginning of every project
• Inspects works in coordination with the Site Engineer according to Request for Inspection forms submitted by contractor
• Review quantities executed by contractors against drawings, measurement sheets and invoices for discrepancies and differences
• Assist in monitoring contractor’s work on site and in maintaining daily site diary
• Support in monitoring the contractor’s daily activities and resources allocation against plan
• Support the Associate Project Manager in developing periodic project progress reports, as needed
• Prepare monthly cost reports, as needed
• Ensure that As Built drawings, O&M manuals and warranty certificates are provided accurately by the contractor
• Support in the preparation of commissioning reports and snag lists during the Handover and Defects Liability Period
• Implement corporate policies and procedures

Qualification, Technical Skills and Competencies

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
• Chartered Professional Engineering certification or equivalent is preferred
• Understanding of international engineering standards and codes
• Good communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in spoken and written English; Arabic is an advantage

Specific Experience Required to Execute this Role

• 5+ years of experience in the Engineering Services Industry particularly in a quantity surveying role
• Experience with FIDIC Clauses
