You will be working as a Senior Service Engineer and will be part of the Process Automation Business Area for Energy Industries division based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. In this role you will be responsible for executing medium to high‑complex service work according to work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines for Integrated Control and Safety Systems with expertise in 800xA, AC 800M, and/or other ABB Control Systems. Deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers. In close cooperation with customer and other ABB teams, you will take actions to identify new service business opportunities for ABB.
Responsibilities
- Apply safety rules and safe practices as well as environmental responsibilities, report unsafe practices and incidents, lead HSE activities at site, and contribute to customer satisfaction by planning and executing service work according to customer order and expectation.
- Maintain a clear sense of urgency and care in your direct area of responsibility, ensuring customer retention by delivering superior customer experiences and effectively communicating service work timelines and expectations.
- Work with customers to identify opportunities in the installed base to improve system and operational performance, identifying pain points and recommending solutions.
- Notify the account team of opportunities, plan and prepare site work for larger project teams, manage related subcontractors at site, and perform complex field service tasks.
- Create a team approach to service-related activities and offer customers a complete lifecycle approach to product implementation, supporting and enabling system upgrades and/or evolution. Coach technicians and engineers and supervise complex site activities.
- Prepare material lists needed for service activities, ensuring all materials, parts and equipment are available and of appropriate quality. Prepare all documents and customer reports to be signed by the customer representative, utilizing relevant tools.
- Report work done in a timely manner, follow up when needed, troubleshoot equipment/systems/process failures, request proactive corrective actions, and make recommendations to avoid future problems.
- Act as a technical consultant in your specific area of expertise, proactively planning and executing work on a first‑time right approach with customers and ensuring the job is done on time and to quality standards. Identify improvement needs and potential solutions within your area of responsibility and drive improvement actions.
- Develop, coach and provide technical guidance to colleagues, act as a trainer when needed, and develop team members and customers. Identify technical problems and perform analysis through remote or on‑site activity in service categories and products for which you are certified to perform.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years experience in a similar role and in the automation area, with experience with onshore and offshore oil and gas customers, especially ADNOC and GCC customers.
- Knowledge of ABB systems such as 800xA, AC500, freelance, Symphony Plus, etc.; knowledge of industrial cyber security and networking solutions for ABB systems.
- Overall automation systems understanding combined with process knowledge in Oil & Gas.
- Customer interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, and a problem‑solving approach.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
