Dubai-based architectural engineering consultancy seeks a Senior Resident Engineer to lead on two consecutive hotel refurbishment projects in Dubai. You will supervise a site team, coordinate with contractors, design teams, and hotel operators, and drive a culture of safety and quality across live operations.

The role requires 12+ years of site supervision experience, expertise in interior fit-out and MEP coordination, and a strong command of contract administration with FIDIC principles.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil, Architectural, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 12+ years of site experience in construction supervision.
• Chartered status preferred; strong knowledge of FIDIC and contract administration.

Responsabilités

• Lead the site-based Resident Engineering team on two consecutive hotel refurbishment projects.
• Supervise contractor works on site ensuring compliance with drawings, specs, quality, and programme.
• Review submittals, method statements, material approvals, RFIs, and inspection requests.
• Oversee snagging, testing, commissioning, and defect rectification promptly.
• Coordinate between contractor, design team, client and hotel operator; ensure smooth operations.
• Monitor progress, report delays, risks, and mitigation measures; manage payments and variations.
• Enforce health, safety and environmental requirements; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Prepare progress reports and lead mentoring of the Resident Engineering team.

Senior Resident Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Resident Engineer to join a leading architectural engineering consultancy based in Dubai. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on site leader to take charge of the supervision of two major hotel refurbishment projects in succession, working with globally recognised hospitality brands and providing continuity of leadership across approximately three years of site-based work.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the site-based Resident Engineering team on two consecutive hotel refurbishment projects Supervise and monitor contractor works on site to ensure compliance with approved drawings specifications quality standards and programme Review and approve contractor submittmits method statements material approvals RFIs and inspection requests Carry out and oversee site inspections snagging and testing and commissioning ensuring defects are identified and rectified promptly Manage the day-to-day coordination between the contractor design team client and hotel operator with particular attention to works within or alongside live or phased hotel operations Monitor progress against the construction programme reporting on delays risks and mitigation measures Review contractor payment applications variations and claims and advise on cost and contractual matters Enforce site health safety and environmental requirements Ensure compliance with Dubai Municipality Civil Defence and other local authority regulations as well as brand standards Prepare and issue regular progress reports minutes and project documentation Lead mentor and develop the Resident Engineering team setting standards for site supervision and reporting

Requirements

Degree in Civil, Architectural, Mechanical or a related Engineering discipline Minimum 12+ years of site experience in construction supervision, with significant experience as a Resident Engineer or equivalent senior site role Proven experience on hotel or hospitality refurbishment projects, ideally with international brand standards Strong understanding of interior fit-out, MEP coordination and building services within refurbishment environments Previous GCC experience, ideally in Dubai, with a good understanding of local authority regulations and approval processes Chartered status (e.g. ICE, CIOB, IMechE or equivalent) is preferred Strong knowledge of contract administration (e.g. FIDIC) and construction project controls Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with contractors, clients, operators and design teams Proven leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a site team Proficiency in MS Office and project management or document control platforms Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
